#109 CEVO S4 Registration Open in News
TgbOne more question, is it possible for one person to pay for the rest of the team? Aka one person use their paypal and pay $90 and then the team is paid off? Or does every player have to pay individually?

There will be. Hopefully by the end of the week. Like I mentioned in a post above, we're just waiting for PayPal to fix a small problem on their end, and then we'll release the ability to pay with PayPal and the ability to pay for others. To answer your question direction, you will be able to pay for everyone on your roster with one payment if you prefer.

RaedynHow's that PayPal option coming along guys?

There is a small issue with our PayPal merchant account connecting to their API that the PayPal support team is looking into as we speak. They tell us it should be resolved in ~24 hours and it wont take us very long at all to hook it up after they get back to us. I'm hoping that we'll be able to enable that feature and the ability to easily pay for additional team members by tomorrow at the latest.

synchroIs there zero chance of multiple divisions being a thing, or will a large number of teams affect this?

It would probably be best just to ask people which division they want to play in at first, but I feel like having one giant open division with 5 awesome teams who didn't make Main and then a bunch of experienced ones, and the rest newer, inexperienced teams, will lead to a bad experience.

Again, if there aren't too many teams in open (less than 40?) it's not as much of an issue, but having a huge skill gap wouldn't be very cool.

At CEVO, it's our policy to always announce and guarantee our prize pools at the time that we open registration for a given event. In this case our budget for Season 4 was $2,000. Given this restriction, we felt that we wouldn't be able to stretch that $$$ over any more than 2 skill divisions.

If we end up with more teams than we were initially shooting for (~40), our community crowd funding is successful, and we're able to raise our Season 4 prize pools by a significant amount, we'd certainly be open to the idea of adding additional skill divisions this season.

Keep in mind that we've already committed all of the s4 league fees (Less PayPal costs) to the s5 prize pool, so even if our community crowd funding isn't successful, but we see a solid number of teams register for s4, we may very well be able to add additional skill divisions in s5.

hookyWill the decision to keep/replace Coalplant be based on the ESEA map poll, or will a separate poll be done?

At the end of the registration period when we know exactly which teams will be competing, we are going to poll each team captain. This way we can make sure that only teams actually competing in the event are making decisions on the map pool.

LiamNissanIn past seasons of cevo, one player out of a team of five would not have to use the paladin client if, for example, they had a mac. Will This rule still hold true for upcoming seasons?

Players who aren't logged into the Paladin match client, will not be allowed to participate in the match. We don't have MAC support at this time, but users are encouraged to use Boot Camp and run a Windows partition.

TgbSo you say match deadlines are monday and wednesday, how does re scheduling work and times and all?

Matches are scheduled 7 days prior to the round's deadline day and teams are encouraged to arrange to play at any time that works for both teams on or before the deadline date. If both teams can't agree on a date/time, the match is automatically scheduled for 8 PM CST on the deadline/default day.

MiNiThe default match days would directly mess with people playing in ugc. Lots of people play hl on mondays, then a portion do 6's on wednesdays.

We encourage teams to schedule their matches for any date/time that works for both teams, as long as its not after the deadline date for that specific round. Unfortunately, there are only 5 says available to us in a week (Sun-Thurs) and between CEVO, ESEA, and UGC there is bound to be some overlap.

Let us know if you have any questions about this...

Thanks,
CEVO|Pipher

DaggerWill there be an option to pay via paypal? A lot of people don't have credit cards and using someone else's just isn't an option for them.

Yes, we should have this in place before the end of the night, tomorrow at the very latest.

#58, this is already on the roadmap and we've already started building the framework, so we hope to be able to release an API to access some of our league information shortly, but sadly I don't have an ETA.

#36 CEVO Community Meeting in TF2 General Discussion
atmoThanks for your time Pipher, you made a good impression.

Not a problem, thanks for having me. As we get closer to the official start of the season I'm sure that we can organize another "town hall" type meeting to discuss any other pressing issues that come may come up before registration begins.

#117 AG Supports CEVO in Expanded League in TF2 General Discussion

Thanks for the support everyone! All of us at CEVO are super excited about the potential influx of new teams coming on board for Season 4 and we're going to do our best to make sure that everyone's ideas and suggestions for the league are taken into consideration.

AG| Nahanni is going to be organizing a "town hall" meeting of sorts at some point next week that will give everyone an opportunity to ask us any questions that you may have about CEVO and our plans for TF2 Season 4 and beyond.

Thanks,

#216 The ESEA abuse thread in TF2 General Discussion
KarovaSo Pipher, say you get enough teams to sign up to warrant the creation of 3 separate divisions, would you respect their rank in ESEA S15, so that ESEA-I teams would be able to play in CEVO-P and teams that made playoffs in ESEA-O would be eligible for CEVO-IM? Also, please make it so match stats are auto uploaded to the website.

We'd certainly respect teams experience in other leagues when we had to fill the new divisions. After the inaugural season, we'd move to the moveup/movedown model that we use in our other games, which is based on previous season performance.

KanecoI'm curious to how a league can keep running with a prizepool and no fees without going bankrupt? Do you have any sweet sponsorship deals? Not trying to attack in anyway, just curious.

Good question! At this time we don't actually make any money off of CEVO.com (the league), we subsidize our events with sponsorships, and the proceeds from our B2B side of the company (eSports event management solutions) because we love competitive gaming. That's not to say we won't eventually make any $$$ from the league, but for now it's not the case.

IrishhhhNow if people came over to your league would you make more divisions...And if you did what would be the general layout of it be and how many teams would have to sign up generally. (sorry if this is a stupid question)

Not a stupid question, but we usually wait until we have about 48 fully "ready" teams in our lowest skill division before we can justify opening up a second skill tier. With the rate at which teams drop from the league mid-season starting with any less really jeopardizes the integrity of the event.
