#22 Need Headphone recommendations in Hardware
-nkoWhile on topic, does anybody have any over ear recommendations for pure sound quality? Budget doesn't necessarily matter.

aside from mentioned suggestions; look into the HD800.

Schiit has good, cheap dacs/amps.
i use the ODAC+O2 combo myself, and vouch for them to be worth that bit more.

or just go for the Sennheiser Orpheus HE-90 + HEV 90.
only 300 were made. the combo is probably still well over 10k, if you'd even find a seller:

i mean, just look at this guy:

#26 Xiaomi earbuds in Hardware

how/why do all these vendors get away with selling fake stuff, damn...
well, i know sennheiser has a couple of sick in-earphones, but they do cost that bit more.

otherwise, consider trying to get them to take pictures of the product.
there are plenty of sources explaining differences between fake and genuine (presuming nothing has changed).

#8 Hard Mousepads in Hardware

icemats are great, but too small for me. same goes for the 4HD and 9HD.

i use the heaton qpad (435x365mm / 17.1"x14.4") with a G400 (tiger gaming mouse feet) and it's just an awesome combo. unfortunately the heaton qpad is very hard to find nowadays (discontinued), but there are plenty of options if you don't need a big pad like this.

i certainly vouch for the 4HD, 9HD or an icemat if any is big enough for you.
but in the end it's just preference, so i suggest taking some time to get to reviews on mats that catch your attention. prior posters had excellent recommendations as well, so i wouldn't be too hasty picking one!

best of luck finding a pad you like :)

edit: enigma ninja. take what he mentioned seriously!

#2 Installing an SSD in Hardware

google, please!
and i don't mean that in a bad way: you really want to properly install your SSD to get the most out of it.
and, depending on your BIOS, you might have to change settings in there before you actually plug the SSD in.

also, i'm fairly certain that it's much suggested to have ONLY the SSD plugged in when you install windows on it.
i don't know if there's a specific way of uninstalling the copy of windows on your HHD, though. be sure to double-check things like that. having 2 copies of windows (even when on different drives) can confuse the copy that's being used.

this is one link that's definitely worth looking at.

you will so enjoy how fast your windows, and alot of other applications, boot.
happy holidays!

edit: i don't know why there's so much space in between lines, that's not how i posted this..

#65 Games for kids in Other Games

if your kids understand english:
little big adventure
little big adventure 2
they're possibly too hard for ~5 y/o people, though..

also: Rayman, The Neverhood(!!!), Samorost, Samorost 2, Machinarium(!!!)

great thread, though! i saw many many really good suggestions that i played, and loved, as a kid myself :D

edit: didn't realise it was a necro :(

#11 new mouse help in Hardware

i think you should go for the g502, because:

nopegreat customer service
Sensor tracks accurately up to high speeds
No acceleration
Palm grip
Not too tiny
A side button for PTTD

..and the sensor is sick.

google some reviews (check overclock for example), specifically for opinions on the scrollwheel.
and even if the scrollwheel is rather bad, i think you should still consider the mouse. because i'm sure you could work your way around that, too.

how important is the scrollwheel to you?
have you owned mice of which you thought the scroll-wheel is great?
answers to these could narrow down the options. because there are many many good mice nowadays :)

#3 good headphone suggestions? in Hardware

are you looking for open headphones? closed headphones? (in-)earphones?
especially in-earphones are great at filtering out external noise, if that's what you want.
