and it only gets me a bit flustered because you choose not to look at any of the information and just assume ur right even when shown proof.

ok one last post

What proof is there that they're blackmailing this guy other than a post that says they can still publish the information they have (which they can) and what looks like a person getting their stories mixed up?

In a court of law this would be shoddy evidence of any deal happening at best.

If they were indeed blackmailing him why not just release the evidence of them doing so? It would hurt them far worse than this whole fiasco and then he might even have legal ground to stand on to sue them (thought not likely). If this has unfolded the way you're saying why doesn't he just step up and put forward his side of the story?

At the end of the day all you have is someone posted racist/bigoted things and were found out but CNN decided not to post his info to protect him after he apologized which seems like a pretty good conclusion to me. The only actual concrete evidence is they found a guy, he issued an apology, and he definitely has an offensive post history associated with him.

Catface i don't why you have to be so low browed in whats supposed to be discussion but thats just your own issues I guess.

catface15 or 51 you shouldn't be giving out people's personal information on the internet to a bunch of people over a meme, no matter what posts he makes personally.

also here is the things about genocide

i know you like to sling shit about reading but you should try it too

catfaceplease show me where hanasshoelsolo posted about genocide. also if you actually read what i posted instead of being a retard you'd see he was forced into posting the apology. no normal guy is going to prowl through hundreds of reddit posts to find slight hints as to where you live and then pin point you down over a meme on reddit. he never posted "i live in x"

edit: they also tracked him down over the MEME he made not about his racist posts he made on reddit. whatever he posted on reddit has nothing to do with the fact that he was bullied into apologizing to FNN because he posted a meme

I also imagine they shouldn't have reported their attempt at threatening a 15 year old over a wrestling meme, might do some damage to their reputation don't you think?

Maybe I'm missing the issue but dont most people that do dumb shit and are discovered for it have to do an apology? Granted this is probably the dumbest thing ever but I just don't see the controversy. It's like if some black guy was found coincidentally posting memes online about killing whites I'd expect him to issue an apology too you know.

Also I've yet to see any source corroborate this guy is 15 since all signs point towards him being a full grown adult?

So he finds the guy using information he posted publicly who then issues an apology once he realizes that its probably not a good idea to have posts about literal genocide associated with your name and then they don't post his info because he apologizes and asks them not to.

And the problem is what exactly???? That the information still exists in the universe of what he did?

I just find this such a literal non-issue that people are worked up about. Like why would CNN even bother investigating this? And then once they do they just find a racist asshole who posts about genocide on a account where anyone can figure out who he is (a true shocker) and then people try to twist this into some sort of doxxing issue.

This whole event is so non-substantial its actually the just the unbelievable levels of fact twisting and assumptions that make this interesting.

All_Over_RSwell for a start the implications of what the guy said aren't the same as if he were to do what he did offline in a public space, and also the internet is full of fuckheads that would do their best to ruin this guy's life over some bigoted stuff he said on reddit.

How are they not the same? If you said/presented very offensive things in say a city square many people would be very angry even violenty so about said things regardless if its a joke or not. I'm also sure some people in that city square would want to ruin his life in that scenario too if they found information he's put out publicly about himself.

All_Over_RSit's not really about them finding out his name, it's about what they're holding over his head by threatening to release his name.

You could interpret it that way or you could also say the guy is lucky that the offensive things he said in a public space wont be associated to him after someone found out about it and decided not to publish it.

All_Over_RSwhymeoIf you don't want to face consequences for being a racist asshole maybe don't be a racist asshole.
the prospect of an angry anonymous internet mob of 'justice' ruining someone's and their family's/friends' lives =/= consequences for being a racist asshole.

If he said these things in a public space in real life there would be angry mob of justice wanting to ruin his friends' and families' life too, not that it makes it right but that's a consequence of saying potentially offensive things in public spaces. It's perfectly fine for private persons/companies to be against someone's opinion as long as they don't infringe upon their rights. The only consequences free speech is protected from is consequences from the government.

I think people are just going to have to accept the internet is a public place now and if you post stuff on it you better be prepared for it to potentially come back to you, especially if put information about yourself online that is easily found in connection to your posts.

Could someone explain how a news agency finding out the name of someone who did something online in a public space is any different than finding out a name of someone who did something offline in a public space.

#24 An Examination of Gender Disparity in LoL in Off Topic

i dont think ive ever seen girls put on pedestals in esports for anything other than brand marketing purposes and i think its pretty disingenuous to assert they're somehow both problems of equal magnitude

in fact i would struggle to even make up enough data to show girls progress is hindered in esports because of TOO much praise lol
