#47 Fireside Casts Updates in Projects

Hey, a couple quick things I wanted to put out where twitter doesn't reach - I wanted to say a couple things.

First of all, I'm so happy this project is still turning out new content in ways I didn't imagine possible when I started Fireside back in 2020. 3 years has turned out to be really stressful for me work-wise, but being able to help manage and produce what we do in the background is always a great way to de-stress.

In other news, we're hiring! Granted, we're still growing, so while it's not always going to be a lot, I'll always make sure everybody gets paid while they help me with stuff I have no idea how to do. Right now, FiresideCasts is looking to onboard people familiar with TF2, specifically competitive, and have talents in either graphic design and those with experience in front-end and reactive web frameworks, such as React, Vue, Angular, etc- whatever you're most comfortable with. Part of this will be for working with our lead back-end developer and graphic designers in the development of a web-based HUD, where you will help with the web layout, animations, controls, and integration with our existing real-time TF2 client data source.
If you or someone you know have that knowledge and want to get on the team, feel free to reach out to either myself or siyo so we can get started!

Once more, thank you for all the support and love you've showed us in the past couple years, and I can't wait to see what else we can bring to the table :)

The teams have changed the match time to 9:30 instead, wish I had the power to change that and my haiku where for some reason I count “OJ” as a single syllable

#29 See your medic's uber% on hud in Customization

I get that people have banned it, but why? This minor amount of information seems like something that can MAYBE help timing a push better. Is there something that I’m missing? Frankly this is barely more functionally applicable than having the speedometer mod.

#28 Reputable keyboard manufacturers in Hardware

most companies when it comes to reputable hardware are fairly good in the 80-100 dollar price range nowadays, you shouldn't have much trouble with finding a keyboard that lasts. My recommendations no matter what though is that you look for a metal cased keyboard, instead of a plastic one or something without a lot of weight to it. Right now I'm using a modded keychron q2, but even unmodded it sounded and felt really high quality.

#4 Trial By Fireside - Newcomer & Amateur coverage in Projects

Really excited to get this project running- plus it means I get to go to bed earlier than normal casts :)
In all seriousness though, helping newer players understand the game better has been something I've always wanted to do, even when I was also one of the newer players that didn't really understand that much about the game at the time. Hopefully with professional-styled casts and being able to in real-time focus on a specific player's positioning or various teamplay we can help teams learn their mistakes in a way that doesn't try and call them out specifically for more noob-ish mistakes, which is something that nobody wants to see or be a part of anyway

#3 Keyboard in Hardware

most keyboards made by the larger companies should be towards that upper $100 limit, and some of them will come with software for LEDs/macros that could end up bogging down your pc over time, but if you're looking for something fast I would still go for something reliable and a little more expensive over a company selling a $30 board that I've never heard of. This HyperX board is on sale for $70, with the ability to mod it over time if you wanted to change something about it
That all being said, I build and mod keyboards/GC controllers as a hobbyist and it's a hobby that if you would want to learn how to solder, can be really fun to look into if that's something you might be interested in.
