Heya, so I'm in need of a new PC for gaming really since this one is insanely slow, and I'd ideally like to be able to stream as well. I don't have a strict budget but I'd really like it to be as low as possible and $750 is a rough guide as to my top limit.

I'd only really use it for playing TF2 on dx8 with highframes config and then streaming that at a medium quality. I don't often buy new games and I don't care about graphics settings so it doesn't have to be a monster, just able to get stable 132 fps at that quality and stream it.

I've done a little bit of looking around (but I know nothing really) and asking people who know their business and come up with this http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/PcmT but I'd like other opinions since this is a little expensive. If there's any way to shave the price down whilst still being able to show the masses me shitting on Mike that'd be appreciated thanks.

Well. First of all, I think the build is solid. There are some parts that I'd get from a different brand. But that's personal preference, really. In case you don't want to overclock, you don't have to get the K-Version. (Saves you about 10$ i believe) Also for stock clocks there is not really a need to get anything besides the boxed cooler. (like 95% of the boxed coolers I've seen are fine and fairly silent if you clean them once in a while, and you can always RMA it if it's broken.)

And lastly I'd rather get a 120GB SSD and go for an external HDD later when you have some spare money again. (Or you use the one in your current computer again.)

AnimaL recommended that I do overclock as he suffers from microstutters because his cpu isn't as powerful, and thinks it might be the same here (if I understood correctly). If I don't need to OC I won't, so maybe I should wait and see then buy the cooler if needed yeah.

Decided not to buy an SSD because they're quite expensive and only improve loading times and OS starting speed, I'd rather wait an extra minute than pay another £50 tbh.

EDIT: Want to keep my old pc working for other work, so pillaging that for parts isn't an option. I have a 1TB USB3 hard drive for storage.

Maybe you can use your old case and HDD? It'll save you some money which you can spend on other parts.
And I'd change the GTX 650 to HD 7770 as it's a bit faster with the same price.
The 650W PSU is more than enough, I'd definitely go for something lower.

If you want to stream you should definitely overclock your CPU.

You cant stream 720p with that CPU unless you OC(To play 6v6 or HL i mean) i got the same CPU with a gtx 680 and i did have some strange fps drops sometimes but was just tf2 really what you need to stream without any stutters or anything is the new i7 3770k OC that and you will be fine
I stream 840x524 (res downscaled from 1680x1050 2 times) and i dont have any stutters or fps drops anymore i fixed it with removing the hats thats my input sideshow :)

tbh, OCing isn't a must, I streamed on 3.3 on an i5 with TF2 no problems, with an FPS config of course I'd get around 250 fps stable in 6v6 and around 150 on pubs/highlander.

TF2 is a bit of a mixed bag in terms of every ones performance, you might have that rig and find no issues streaming at all with an fps config, yet others might stutter loads with a similar set up.

My specs: Intel i5-2500K @ 4.1 Ghz
16GB RAM
Asus HD 7950 DirectCU II TOP V2 3072MB GDDR5
1x 500 GB HDD
1x 250 GB SSD

The OC boosted FPS by 150, the GPU had none :D

imo your rig should be fine to run TF2 and stream.

I could stream at 1024x768 with i5-3570k @ stock speed and HD 4000 (integrated into the CPU), 30 FPS, Maxframes/Highframes, the FPS was stable 151, but I had noticeable input lag and that was pretty much the only problem. No matter what settings in-game I've used nothing fixed it.

So basically this rig I proposed is only just able to stream properly, and it's a little out of my price range already. I'm guessing I can't get it any cheaper then...

EDIT: After doing what you suggested I knocked £55 off my original build, and Fallen suggested this build http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/Pxvg it's a lot cheaper, due to the less expensive motherboard and cpu. He reckons it should stream better too...thoughts?

too much intel love.

Probably get higher fps & costs less. At i48 i streamed 1080p@30fps with a stable 250 fps in game using only a slightly better build then this (660 instead of 650 and a better mobo)

After talking to AnimaL a lot, even though Chris assures me he doesn't know shit about computers man, I think I've decided to buy this http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/PA5E

Check out the amd fx 8350. It even beats out the 3770k in a lot of aspects, and its only $160-180. With 8 cores it would dominate for streaming. Also, switch out the 650 for a 7850 or 7770 (or something amd, maybe you could find a 7870 for cheap).
650w is overkill, but go with a quality psu. Most important part of the build, plus a good seasonic will last you forever.
Also, with a 8350 you need a good motherboard. Don't go with a $50 mobo with a $150 cpu, its going to blow up haha.
do you live near a micro center? They have sick deals for the 8320/8320.
But otherwise, pick up a 990 mobo, either the gigabyte ud3, the asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 or the asrock extreme 4.

DAMN. Lol that's intense. I need to upgrade my cpu haha, still running an old amd phenom 2.6ghz. Shows that tf2 runs mostly off the cpu also
