it came from the front of the case where the fan controller is so i think it’s a fan thing maybe??

It's a 4-pin peripheral connector with the 12V side only. Often times cases with built in fans use them to connect power to the fan. You can connect it to any 4-pin peripheral connector coming from your PSU. You may need a splitter if you don't have one free.

it's a molex connector. There should also be a matching cable hooked up to/that comes with your PSU, otherwise you'll need a splitter like #10 said, but usually they come included

Yep, power for the fan controller.
If your motherboard isn't shit the built-in fan controls should be better than a manual 2/3 speed switch fan controller that some cases got. If you don't use the fan controller it doesn't need power.
