A year ago, Mitch told me to make a concept design for his ultiduo tournament. I did, I hung on to my design, but didn't actually get any updates until it got added into the game. On a TFTV post, he credited me and iridescentFUZZ here, but not on the item's list. Credit where it's due, Mitch. Where's mine? Some would call me salty or a bit petty over a medal design, but when it comes to creative work and design, it's everything.

Further explanation.

My original design.

The CappingTV Summer Brawl Ultiduo Tournament medal.

edit: I know this could be solved by asking Mitch directly, but this was at a moment where I was trying to get something out there early. A bit of a redundant and weird point, but I still stand by it.

Hi, no attempts were made to contact me or the tournament organisers after the event. We were simply sent the design and that was that.

That being said, I personally apologise for not getting you added to the contributors list. I have added your name into all the workshop files.

On a side note, we did credit your name in the TFTV thread, as well as in the discord.

Aye, I remember that and I did point that out. But my fault as well for being too hasty on my judgement. Glad we can sort this out.

Mitch_We were simply sent the design and that was that.

It shouldn't have stopped at "that was that", the next thing that should have happened is the artist and modeler were told to add each other. The thing is this situation has happened more than once. In terms of workshop etiquette, the concept artist SHOULD be on the contributors list. Your middleman should have sent the concept artist to the modeler or vice-versa to put into the contributors list (assuming the assets being used are brand new and not borrowed from anything already accepted into Valve). It's courtesy, it gives credit where credit is due.

When I do middleman communication, I ALWAYS make sure to tell the modeler who to add such as staff and the artist, or vice-versa where I tell staff and the artist to add the modeler - because that's my responsibility as the liaison. There's one time where I have fucked this up for a medal, and it was because I didn't communicate on time that they thought I dropped out. I tried to follow up before the entries were finalized too. I'm making sure it's never happening again.

There's one incident (I wasn't involved in it) where a logo and medal concept artist was not actually told to add the modeler or vice-versa by the middleman, and only 2 years later realized they had not been contacted to be added to the workshop entry - let alone credited for the design anywhere. Valve couldn't give them a Self-Made at that point since they had to be part of the contributors before the finalization. I don't even know if they were given a Genuine as a "whoops sorry dude".

There's no way artists know about medals being finalized unless they are told, "we're finalizing now, add this dude, they modeled your concept". Some modelers will ask you who made the concept art, otherwise they assume whoever is talking to them is the artist.

uberchainThere's no way artists know about medals being finalized unless they are told, "we're finalizing now, add this dude, they modeled your concept". Some modelers will ask you who made the concept art, otherwise they assume whoever is talking to them is the artist.

To back this point up, it is the responsibility of whoever is publishing or overseeing the creation of a medal to make sure ALL parties are credited. Hearing mitch say "that was that" sounds like an undersell of an integral part of the item creation process (concept), and isn't really a fair excuse at all.
The art came from somewhere- so respect the person who made it.

Honestly the classic MGE ones look tight

iseries and the first ETF2L winner medals are well-made imho

DeutschLAN is my favorite for obvious reasons

The most interesting I own has to be the RETF2 . Took their own approach and all of them look amazing.

the new etf2l medals and new ugc medals are so big and clunky and are hard to look at
the old ugc medals in the image are not too big but still look cool
