See yourself in POV smooths!

I apologize if this is common knowledge, but I have just successfully made a smooth from a POV demo where the player who recorded the demo is visible (using HLAE). Again, I wasn't sure if people knew that this was possible, as it looks like it's been possible since June 2015.

Here is the smooth:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbdfR0U6Z74
if you look at the bottom left corner, you can see that it's the soldier's POV demo
(yea the smooth and config are bad, but it's just a demonstration)

So yeah, if people knew about this already, then I am sorry for wasting your time. If not, let me know if I should explain it or something.

It's been kinda out there for like 1-2 years. A great tutorial/video I remember looking it up from was this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a28waa30-bw

Not sure the "see yourself in pov demos" was possible at the time of that tutorial but it's kinda redundant anyway since you can smooth stv demos for the same effect.

Well, I know the STV thing has been around for long, but you don't always have access to an STV demo. Plus, I've done this using different commands than in the tutorial and it doesn't require exporting any files to C4D or any other software.

Wow, this is really cool. I've been waiting a long time to see someone actually figure out how to pull this off. Care to elaborate on how exactly you did this? (since you did mention your method was different from the tutorial)

I did it using mirv_campath and mirv_input camera. The HLAE documentation should explain it pretty well, but I might write/record a tutorial when I have more time.

Just wanna say I went ahead and researched this a bit and finally got to try it and it really works great, thank you. Doesn't require any aditional software like the overly complicated method I was referring to.
And it's a much better "technique" to smooth whatever it is either povs or stvs because you have a lot more control over the camera, you can change its path on the go, save it, load it. etc... The result of my smooth using this method for a pov demo was this

In case almie doesn't end up doing it, I might do a tutorial on it when I have time since all I found was csgo related stuff.

Those are for stv demos, not pov's.

Do you need to be in third person before doing the camera/campathing to see yourself or is your model rendered even if the pov is playing in first person

I apologize to necro as I rarely post here, but I just got into fucking about with smooths and the hidden chip in all this is just to type "thirdperson" in the console to get yourself to render. Sorry if that is obvious
