So I avg around 100-150 fps during hectic gunfights on my PC, and I was wondering why because i used to avg around 200-300 fps on my lower end pc a few years ago. 1080ti, 16gb ram and i7-8700k with congmalias high end pc config (so most settings are turned off or low)

Before I do a clean install of TF2, any1 have any suggestions as to what might be lowering my FPS so much? It isnt using much of my CPU either, and I have multicore rendering on.

If you're in discord while its happening try disabling the discord overlay, it likes to lock fps to 150 for some reason.

other than what Hexx said try these things.

  • Disable Fullscreen Optimizations
  • Enable High Performance in the Power Options. Laptop users should do so only while plugged into power.
  • Several background programs can eat up a lot of CPU resources, close them.
  • If you used to us -dxlevel 81 and you're using -dxlevel 9x (90,91,95,98,100) consider going back.
  • Disable all the Windows 10 Game bs
  • If you were on an OC'd system and you're not now that may make a large difference in some cases.
  • If you haven't cleaned out your PC in awhile you may want to get some compressed air, take your PC outside and spray out all the dust/hair that's built up.
  • Use true fullscreen and not borderless window to see if that resolves your issues.

Have you tried this experimental version of mastercomfig? https://gist.github.com/mastercoms/a7eeb371ac2c066feb3e0d397b8086c7

I've been getting reports that it helps a lot, especially on high end PCs.

Is this a new version you just developed? I have a similar issue to OP and I've been using Mastercomfig 7 (the client) for a month or two now and while it makes the game much cleaner visually it hasn't helped too much fps wise.

Yes, this is around a few days old, while mastercomfig 7's last update has been almost a year ago.
