Can't connect to scrim servers

This issue just started tonight. I'm able to connect to pubs through the casual quick play thing and I'm able to connect to servers that show up in my favorites but trying to connect to two servers owned by our opponents had me stuck at connection failed after 4 retries while everyone else was able to connect just fine. Trying to view the server info shows the server not responding, and I also wasn't able to add those servers to my favorites. I was however able to join my team's server, possibly because it was already in my favorites or maybe because it doesn't have plugs in set up on it yet. While this was happening my steam said friends network unreachable so it's probably an internet thing?

I've tried:

  • Restarting PC
  • Restarting Steam
  • Restarting Router
  • Verifying game cache
  • Launching steam through the old version with -nofriendsui

Any help would be appreciated

Were the opponents servers on a different host to your teams?
could be a routing issue

I've definitely had this issue before, but it only ever happened whenever my net died or I restarted my wireless adapter, both while I was connected or connecting to a server.

I just googled around a bit, and it kind of looks like one possibility might be IP related.

Hunter_ThompsonFinally. I changed my IP and can confirm that problem is solved.

Maybe your net started doing some weird shit when you were connecting to the server, and the server has your IP logged somewhere, and it's denying you from connecting because it thinks you're already connecting/connected in some way? I couldn't tell ya tbh.

If the problem persists, maybe trying getting assigned a new IP address, which might have already happened if you have a dynamic IP address. Also, unplugging your router for like 30-60 seconds might also assign a new IP.

Other than that, I'm not sure, but waiting it out always ended up working for me.
