What's the most efficient way of improving your dm

YeeHawStylaxMy aim feels different every day atn. I go through spells where my tracking is nuts on dm and then i cant hit anything for half an hour. Now im back constantly changing sens and crosshair trying to fix it.

Think I'm just burnt out. My movement has gone to trash and I'm probably just thinking about it too much.

So yeah, basically also be wary of over playing.
i feel like this inconsistency you describe is based on your team and opponents in dm. its easy to get a 25 damage kill on a scout that is better than you that was hit by a pipe or direct, but next round when the teams are shuffled and the friendly spam is not there the scout kills you in a 1v1. your skill level has not increased or decreased, the situation being in your favour before has given you false confidence.

this is why it is important to look at the context of the fight and not who gets the kill at the end if you want an accurate measure of your skill.

Nah man it's a lot deeper than that I feel. It's like my mouse and sens just feel totally alien to me.
When I was on it a few weeks ago I'd play against scouts like you or other High or Prem scouts and just track them really well. My movement was still poor but my tracking and aim felt really good for half an hour or so of DM. I knew I wasn't as good as you players but it was more about how my aim and mouse felt.

But then recently I can't hit anything and my tracking is just gone. I can't track even basic movements. It's not that I'm not killing anything, it's that I'm not hitting anything. It's really hard to explain. It happens to me every so often even if I stick to a sens I find. And then I start changing everything and I'm screwed. Right now I can barely track pubbers. and I feel like I have no control

I agree with the general point but that's not my issue imo.

Happens to me regularly too, you are definitely overthinking yourself IMO. Simply put on some music hop onto dm and allow yeehaw to tear you a new one while entering full zen mode. Don't try to aim, just let yourself go with the flow, empty your mind and simply kill your opponent is how I would describe the feeling. Once you reach a happy medium where you aren't paying too much attention to insignificant things you can start slowly immersing yourself back into it. Just keep playing dm and don't neglect actual games be it pugs scrims or mixes with your friends, consistency is still key.

In a nutshell don't let yourself get into the habit of overfocusing on yourself, focus on whoever you are fighting instead and relax.

the answer to your question is probably mge as long as you're actively using it to improve yourself and aren't just spamming aids arenas that cater to your terrible playstyle. You also have to regularly play proper gamemodes (pugs/scrims) to implement the skills you learnt in mge into your actual play, if you just spam mge for months straight your dm will improve but you'll end up with a bunch of bad habits it will take extra time to break.

also spire isnt as great as people make out either, you should focus on the other arenas imo (i've found via, blands, process, ammomod and maybe snake/gully to be the best ones). never play endif.

the most effective way to improve your dm is basically buddy mge.

Ringo__StarrAt least on scout you don't have to play pugs at all to improve.

The best thing you can do to improve your DM is just grind mge out with 1 person regularly. Get some nigga you're boys with (but preferably not a teammate) that plays the opposite of whatever you do (so if you play soldier find a scout and vice versa), and just grind until you both get to 300 kills after scrims or something. The idea is you pick someone you know so that neither of you have an incentive to win, and only to improve your own aim and each other's aim.

I'm not going to endorse grinding DM because you'll either pick up bad habits or pull all your hair out seeing every other player's bad habits. If you do play it, use common sense on what good practice is. Don't press +back as scout. Don't projectile jump. Don't pick up health packs. If you need to be told not to use the gunboats it's already too late for you.

all of this

if you can consistently not miss heavy classes who all move like molasses your aim is already good enough on scout to be plenty effective at almost any level

u can be an average joe scout who plays with the heal beam and suddenly you're banny

Depends on what class I guess. I find soldier/soldier mge to be a total waste of time; when a soldier jumps u in game, the best thing to do is usually just counterjump or do something else that'd be considered omega gay in mge/dm. Demo in mge doesnt make much sense either, you'd gain so much more from just pugging or even pubbing probably. Scout/scout or scout/soldier can be alright if the soldier has gunboats or something.

I think DM is much better, or at least much more fun, aside from the fact that soldiers can and often do jump an unrealistic amount.

All that said, DM doesn't really matter as much as you think it does even on scout. Playing smarter and having a more cohesive team will help u out much more.

tldr; if u really wanna get better individually, you're gunna have to suffer through the ppl in pugchamp

just play mge and grind that aim

play newbots too it's also pretty helpful for warming up and getting that muscle memory

its easy to pick up shitty habits in dm and you dont really learn much from pugchamp unless all 6 of your team is actually trying to play tf2 and not be braindead

Especially on scout, given it's a bot and doesn't jump.

Playing scout agaisnt the scout in tr_newbots/arena is quite challenging (and embarrassing) because it dodges you with "BOT" ping.

StylaxIt's pretty hard to hit but I'm not sure it really moves like real scouts will do when you play them

Idk, maybe it is good practice. When Maros used to stream he used to use it

for me, its just an alternative, mostly used while waiting to get a spot in dm/mge servers after ive done my routine in tr_aim and tr_walkway
