YppYIf Valve truly cares, don't you think we would have seen these changes a long time ago? Why wait.
Well they are busy making non-stoke weapon skins...

well weapon skins and changes to how the flamethrower works are obviously not done by the same guy

I'm not talking about the Pyro. I'm talking about matchmaking changes. Like an actual ranking system that works, for the so called ranked mode. But yeah implementing an ELO system is too much work I guess. It is clearly easier to fix the Pyro, and that will totally fix matchmaking and comp as we know it.

all well and good but instead of inviting sfm creators to test a pub map they should be inviting invite/prem players to test the new mm improvements so it doesnt still blow when the update eventually drops

then again they tested it last time and literally ignored every bit of feedback so maybe its better if they dont try and get our hopes up this time around

YppYFirst, as I said, the concept of Pyro is broken. It would take the removal of the flamethrower to fix it, and well then it would not be the Pyro anymore would it? So what I'm saying is that any change that would make Pyro viable in 6s, would still leave the flaws of Pyro, which is why people would then ban it. Second if 4hp was just talking about small changes, that would not make Pyro viable, then what is the point form a comp standpoint? Because I certainly don't think it will make a difference in the 30 seconds of playtime Pyro sees in a 6s match.

you dont have to remove the flamethrower to fix pyro, just fix the flamethrower lol. your thought process is "pyro is broken so in order to fix it just remove things instead of changing them!" which is fucking retarded
also good pyro changes benefit the entire game and not just competitive, believe it or not.

Ok then, how do you fix the Pyro without removing the close-combat weapon, that takes no skill to use? Making the flames more consistent will not fix the Pyro in a comp setting. And I'm not arguing whether or not Pyro changes may be beneficial to the game, but that they will not be to comp. And tftv is for discussing comp, I don't give a damn about casual, go to reddit then.

Give pyro the ability to bhop and make the flamethrower a lightning gun. Magically viable in a comp setting.

Aptall well and good but instead of inviting sfm creators to test a pub map they should be inviting invite/prem players to test the new mm improvements so it doesnt still blow when the update eventually drops

They're not interested in making a competitively viable map, they're probably more interested in making another PAYLOAD CASUAL MAP

-Lightning gun (no joke)
-Increase his speed (a bit faster than Medic)
-Lower his health to 150 (for balance)
-50% Slower airblast firing rate (even though i want to remove that shit, but it takes some timing skill to use when deflecting projectile and people gonna riot)
-Lower the airblast ammo usage, increase its push force a bit (for "balance")
-Reduce the blast damage when flare jumping (Shotgun & Flare gun is now optional because the Flamethrower can actually deal damage)
-And some changes in weapon stats to fit this Pyro version

Pyro being annoying, useless and low skill because, even though he's labeled as a Offensive class, he has no speed nor damage or range.
But instead of trying to fix these problems, Valve gave him the gimmicky airblast mechanic, and has been trying to balance him around it (with unlocks that can do crit damage or faster switching speed)
He turns out to be a Supportive-Defensive class that only used to denying uber or checking for Spy, beside that, he's nothing but an annoyance

Every classes have their "main" weapons. While the Flamethrower isn't, it only used to lit people on fire, blow them to the air, then switch to Secondary weapon and repeat. Basically the combo is Pyro's only way to deal damage, that's why Shotgun and Flare gun is the only option in competitive play, and that's why he has such low impact to the game

My Pyro is an alternative version of the Scout: fast, low health, hit-scan, close-medium range weapon, requires tracking aiming and dodging. Even though i don't know if it gonna be balanced, fun-to-play-against or not, but i'm sure it's less cancerous than what we're having right now

tl/dr: Stop trying to play around the airblast, that shit is broken, it's the reason why Pyro sucks. He needs some speed, some damage, some range and some milk

Messing_AroundAlot of Pyro ideas

You are missing my point. Giving Pyro a lightning gun would be replacing the flamethrower. And my point was not that you could not fix Pyro, but that Valve would never do it. So there is no reason to discuss it or how to fix matchmaking, because Valve are clearly busy listening to SFM makers and pubbers.

Also in your first post you said that the 6s community would instantly ban pyro if it does get significant changes, which is totally not true. We've been saying this over and over, that were just waiting valve to do something significant, were not just gonna throw out huge changes on a whim.

Maybe I did not make it clear enough. What I meant was that significant changes would still leave the flamethrower. And just buffing the movement speed and damage, may make Pyro more viable, but it would only harm 6s.
And stop waiting for Valve to make huge changes, it is not going to happen.
