Further expansion/coverage

I think almost everyone can agree that expanding to cover the European scene and casting matches is a good thing!

I was wondering if there were similar plans for any other scenes?

For obvious, biased reasons I'd love to see Australian TF2 get more coverage, but there are also other notable scenes (such as Asiafortress) which have a lot of players and successful leagues and deserve more attention.

Does anyone know if there's anything in the works?

I'm sure there is, it's just when. If Enigma wants TFTV to become the global hub for TF2, then it only makes sense.

can't speak directly for enigma but afaik there's been no proper discussion of it. mostly it's a matter of "are there people who can do it, and are they willing to do it for tf.tv"; it came up a bit when we were discussing the euro thing but there's really not much to it beyond that point

if greaver and the rest of the aussie casters wanna rock it, i'm sure they'd be welcomed with open & loving arms

Would love to see Asia/Aus content and coverage here. Greaver and everyone else who works in the leagues/casting are awesome.

It's awesome that you guys are expanding to the Euro scene! Just as snow said, if other scenes like Aus can get exposure, I feel globally the scenes will have a greater understanding of one another. Keep up the good work!

Not to put down immediate expansion into other scenes - but I think language barriers will be a bit of a tough spot to overcome. And that's as far as casters, and posting in the forums. Why would they want to join Tf.tv if they can't even communicate with the majority of the audience here? Maybe something like specific subforums for specific languages? Just tossing some possible objections out there. I'm all for a global tf.tv.

That's not a problem with Australia, and most of Europe. I've never visited the ETF2L forums, but I'm under the assumption that everyone speaks English there as well. Perhaps having a separate stream for different language casts would make sense though (whichever language is most prominent in Asia Fortress).

I'm not sure what language you think we speak in Australia, but it's English.

The Asiafortress site, games and casts are also all in English.

for anyone interested I've created a thread discussing this on the Aus community sites: http://ozfortress.com/showthread.php?t=57287 / http://atf2l.org/topic/307-australian-presence-on-teamfortresstv/

I was referring to Asia. And I'm pretty sure Australians don't speak normal English. More like a sexy form of it.

i think the next issue is that an AU/asia staff would be needed. Are there people there willing to do camera/casts, promote content, general organization?

like snowblind said asiafortress mostly speaks english in the community, seeing as it encompasses a lot of different countries that speak different languages, just like etf2l

Awesome! I can't think of any other difficulties that'd prevent it then. Other than having people willing to promote/set that up from those communities as lamefx said.

yeah, that's pretty much why I posted those threads to see who would be interested.

What is the AsiaFortress hub for TF2? I don't think I've ever seen it mentioned.

I think it'd be splendid if we could expand to Asia and Australia. That way we could become more global for TF2. Many other esport games like SC2, LoL, Dota 2 and etc. have somewhat banded together players/teams in different regions and was able to spread word of their game a bit more and attract more. It'd be worth a shot to try this for a possible better status for TF2. But both AU/Asia do need good organization and coverage for this to happen. Possibly eXtine could make a new video on a discussion about this and see what others think.

Could you imagine? 24/7 TF2 on the TF.TV stream?

It could actually happen

It's all about manpower when it comes to expanding. If people are willing to put out the quality content, I'm sure enigma has no complaints. It's just harder for him to reach out than it is for other people to come to him (dealing with the time zone difference to communicate and possible language barriers in Asia). Australia doesn't seem as hard though, so long as someone notable contacts him and sets up arrangements/manages it.
