Title. One of my favorite RPGs so far has been kingdoms of amalur because I loved the fast paced combat system and the vivid, bright environments, although it was too easy and too repetitive. I hate the dark dungeon crawly type of RPGs though. Do you guys know of any games that fit the bill?

if you have not tried any of the dragon age games, you totally should.

I've played FO3 and NV and i liked them a lot, 4 doesn't look nearly as fun though. I played a few hundred hrs of skyrim when it came out, so I decided to try morrowind/oblivion but they havent aged well and i really couldnt get into them

I tried dragon age 1 but it was kinda slow so i backed out. I should probs give it another shot

Fable looks pretty good though, do you need to play them all in order or are they separate storylines?

Also, thanks to both of ya for the suggestions :)

they're separate storylines, but there are characters from each game that end up being in the sequels.

The first two Golden Sun games are really solid handheld RPGs that have an interesting combat system and look really good for GBA games. The flavor text about what's in the ovens of each house is notable.

The Fire Emblem series isn't really your "traditional" RPG, but sort of like a cross between Pokemon and Advance Wars(?) There's about 17 games in the series or something like that, I would recommend trying out the first one that was released in the US (known as simply "Fire Emblem," the 2D combat animations are bangin') for the GBA, or Awakening for the 3DS.

Earthbound/Mother 3 are classics. The combat is pretty unique, but the world and story are really what's charming.

Sorry for all 2D Nintendo games, didn't play anything else when I was a kid ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My 1st Choice would be The entire Geneforge Series. It is RPG gold. Once you start playing, you get hooked.
Only 30$ for 5 games. I have played and beat all 5 and could not recommend highly enough.
Countless hours of awesome gaming. Don't let the basic look of the game fool you. There is no eye candy but tons of substance instead. (the mark of a great RPG)

My 2nd choice would be the Spellforce Series.
If you are into Base Building, large army fighting and single hero development then this is the game for you.
Its sold on Steam, you get like 9 games for 60$ so not too bad.
