Hi people of the internet,

I made a beat a few months ago when I was really getting into producing, but kind off find myself at a creative low at this instant. I'm looking for new creative ways to make music, I guess, and as a result was wondering if any possible producers on here could lend me a hand by rating my beat/giving me some suggestions as to what I can do better/what I can use to make it sound better.

Much love for listening/lending me a hand.

I like it production wise but sometimes the musical theory isn't in place and the notes clash.

musical theory doesn't need quotation marks

the classic lofi + biggie combo, i love it

+1 to Collaide some notes (guitar? harp???) are indeed clashing and it makes some moments sound bad when they shouldnt, it could be a very smooth track

It sounds like an indie band is tuning their instruments and through a thin wall biggie is trying to freestyle. If weird shit is what you're going for congrats. Sorry dude, not my cup of tea.

He falls out of the beat at 1:25. Couple more times too. Good job though as I would imagine biggie is quite hard to remix due to his flow.

Yeah I have to say I've been struggling with the theoretical aspect, as I'm not musically trained which sadly you can hear apparently. I tend to just improvise and do what seems right when I chop up the samples and stuff, but to be honest I really don't hear what you guys are talking about, though I've heard people mention it before. Any tips on how to hear when it's off? Maybe I should start putting the metronome on when I produce idk. Thanks for all the feedback guys, really appreciate it!

Yeah matching that vocal to the beat is insanely hard without completely dissecting the acapella, which in turn would sound a bit more unnatural I think. Fun fact as well, the shaker on the drums is actually a vocal sample from biggie as well, as he makes that sound in the recording right before he starts rapping. I liked the sound of it and thought it added an extra layer to the drums.

Haha, I get where you're coming from. Thanks for giving it a listen regardless though!

I really like it! I think its a very good track dude! I'd say the thing that clashes the most is the girl singing you sampled when she sings the high notes. the rest seems to fit pretty well, but honestly I kind of like it with the clash it gives it a semi-dissonant sounds which adds to the atmosphere of the beat, in my opinion.
