UGC is more for Highlander players. Usually you should play iron / steel in ugc if you are new. If you want to play 6s, you should probably change your main as engineer isn't part of the main classes used(2 scouts 2 soldiers 1 demo 1 med) http://www.ugcleague.com/home_tf2h.cfm

Since you are engie, as pop7up stated, start off in the highlander gamemode.

I strongly suggest you checkout playcomp.tf They have excellent information on how to join team and how to get involved. I'm assuming you live in the USA because of your flag. If you have played highlander on a site like tf2center.com and are ready to join the commitment of a team, checkout ugcleague.com . This will take you to UGC's website, which is the only highlander league in North America. Now the website can be rather confusing to navigate, but at the top, navigate to "Forum">Find the Section Labeled "Recruiting Forums" and click on "TF2 Highlander Recruiting". Now if you click on "Teams looking for players", and click on steel, because steel is as the lowest division UGC has to offer, and is the division you should play in if you're totally new to competitive. You will find a list of threads with teams that already exist that may be looking for players. Check some out, do what the thread says if you want to find the leader and try to join/etc. If you want to post in a thread, make sure to register for a UGC league forum account. You will find a a box that lets you register for an account. Now, if you were to click "Players looking for teams" instead, you can find a list of threads of players that are currently looking for a team, in the hope that a team looking for players will stumble across someone. You can make a thread; just state your hours, the fact that you are new, you play engineer, and leave your steam profile link. Keep an eye out for someone adding you, as they may be looking to recruit you. Don't get down if you don't make it. Just keep trying, you never know. Another trick is to put "lft" in your name, as it stands for "Looking For Team". Now finding a team that fits you, with this method isn't as common, but I've seen it work. Likewise, players that have "lfp" in their name means "looking for players" and you should ask them or add them to find out what division/players they need.

As for commitment, keep in mind that most teams have "scrims" which are games against other teams, but don't count towards their records, during weekdays, late in the evening, as well as actual matches during the week.

Good luck in finding a team! If you have any further questions, feel free to reply.
