Looks good.
Worst case if the 7700 takes too long to get cheaper you can still get the 6700K.

As for the case: Fractal Design Core 1100 or Cooler Master N200 or something like that?

#2041
Show me how you're getting at least a 480 on that budget.
I don't think the 6$ for Dual Channel will break your budget.
Cheaping out on the mobo is your choice, it's not like it's important or anything.

The case is just a suggestion, but unless your inches are significantly smaller than the inches everyone else uses it would fit.

You need to update the BIOS on Z170 mobos and that's it.
There's exactly two differences between Z170 and Z270. Z270 got:
-4 more PCIe 3.0 lanes, which you won't need because most mobos don't even have enough slots to use them and
-support for for Intel Optane Memory which you will neither need nor can you afford it.

So no difference really, but they had to add something, can't just rerelease the same chipset.

Yes, I understand, but what about an Office Suite that doesn't cost 120$? Spending more than a third of your budget on software seems slightly excessive when there's free alternatives for both.

Ok, talked with her and she is fine dropping the Microsoft Office. Would like to keep the budget at $500. Here is the list as it stands: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/saam/saved/YdGkLk

I'd definitely change the SSD.
Then either get a 250GB SSD, maybe drop the HDD, if 250 or 500GB are enough for her then SSD only is easier.

The other option is changing the mobo and RAM. Won't do anything for performance probably, it's just a reliability/upgradeability thing.

I'd go with https://pcpartpicker.com/product/w6DzK8/sk-hynix-sl308-500gb-25-solid-state-drive-hfs500g32tnd-n1a2a
or https://pcpartpicker.com/product/2VWrxr/crucial-mx300-525gb-25-solid-state-drive-ct525mx300ssd1
whichever is cheaper.

#2050
Going by MSRP the i3-7350K is literally just 2$ closer to the i3-7100 (cheapest i3, clocked 0.3 GHz lower) than to the i5-7600K. For those 64$ would you rather have e.g. a good 250GB SSD or 2 more cores?
For anything multithreaded even the i5-7400 (3$ more) wins most of the time.
The hype is rather limited.

Intel is going absolutely crazy with market segmentation now. All i3s used to support ECC, now it's only special version with the exact same spec and price except with gimped graphics. Wouldn't want anyone using those for low end workstations, if you want single threaded performance and ECC and a decent iGPU you better buy a >300$ Xeon. Also those E versions only exist for the two slowest models. Otherwise they'd be almost be on par multithreaded with the cheapest Xeons and we wouldn't want anyone saving 50$. Even worse they'd beat >400$ Xeons single threaded. Can't have that, can we?

In other news the official launch date for Zen appears to be mid February, OEMs first and going by what I've heard they'll hog most of the supply for a few months.

Will I need a sound card or network adapter?
Is there a reason you like microATX cases setsul?

We'll get on that.

I'd get a BenQ Zowie XL2411 instead. It's identical to the BenQ XL2411Z but not listed in pcpartpicker. That is, if you want Lightboost. If you want FreeSync there's the AOC G2460PF.
The 1070 is indeed excessive and with the mobo, cooler and PSU you'd be over budget. The 7700K is overkill too though. The 7350K is an option, but not that much cheaper. You also don't have to overclock if you don't really need that much performance.

You won't need either. If you have good headphones you might want to get a soundcard, if they are very hard to drive or just very good maybe an external DAC/amp, but that's a whole new can of worms. Unless you want wifi (mobos with wifi are rare) a network adapter is a waste of money.

MicroATX cases are smaller and therefore cheaper. They are also smaller. Unless you want more than 2 GPUs or other things there is no need for full ATX.

Rough idea for now, until you've decided on overclocking, the case and the monitor.

Hi guyz i'm about to buy a new monitor for my desktop pc .
I want one with this specs: full hd (1080), ips, led, low blue light, flicker free, response time < 8 ms, 24', (price ~ 200 euro)
A friend of mine told me that 75 hz monitor are not good and instead a 60 hz is most of the time better: is he saying bullshit or he knows what he's talking about?
these are three I selected:
https://www.amazon.it/Asus-vz249h-Monitor-reazione-colore/dp/B01HZZ12YK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484647214&sr=8-1&keywords=vz249h

What would u chose no matter the price? (or maybe have a better alternative to suggest?) ^^

thanks and have a good day

Hi guyz i'm about to buy a new monitor for my desktop pc .
I want one with this specs: full hd (1080), ips, led, low blue light, flicker free, response time < 8 ms, 24', (price ~ 200 euro)
A friend of mine told me that 75 hz monitor are not good and instead a 60 hz is most of the time better: is he saying bullshit or he knows what he's talking about?
these are three I selected:

SetsulWell get on that.

Rough idea for now, until you're decided on overclocking, the case and the monitor.
...

I'll get the BenQ and the cheaper version of the case I linked before.
I'm happy to overclock.
A lot of people online say that nvidia is better than amd for linux. Although I couldn't find any super recent sources, I'm leaning towards getting nvidia. Is there an equivalent nvidia gpu (in terms of performance and price) to the amd one you suggested?

"Low blue light" is a marketing gimmick, you can just turn down blue in the colour settings or use f.lux, which doesn't fuck up the colour balance as bad.
There is nothing wrong with 75 Hz. But 30/60 fps videos will look like they're stuttering (the same happens with 24 fps videos on a Hz monitor though).

Out of these I'd get the Dell P2417H.

I guess we can leave it like this then. Which cheaper version of the case though?

Actually I'll stick with the case I linked before because I need the additional usb ports.
Reading the reddit thread and a few benchmarks it doesn't sound like AMD is too far behind and the driver being open source is nice so I'll go with the rx480.
That means it's identical to what you listed before. Shall I pull the trigger and buy the parts?

What additional USB ports? 2x USB 3.0 + 2x USB 2.0 on the front panel is about as standard as it gets.

Current specs?

I decided to build a PC for TF2 and CSGO since I realized 40 fps on badlands mid in a 6s game and max 30 fps on dust 2 in a 5v5 game is too low.

This PC is perfect for source games and its able to run some newer games on high settings at a stable 60 fps

CPU: Intel Pentium G4400 3.3GHz Dual-Core ($60 on amazon)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO ($35 on Newegg)
MoBo: ASRock H110M-HDS LGA 1151 Intel H110 (If you are going to build this PC yourself and wish to go with an i5 or i7 get a different mobo, $47 on Newegg)
Ram/Memory: CORSAIR ValueSelect 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133 ($55 on Newegg)
Storage: SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 250GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal SSD ($100 on Newegg)
GPU: RX 460 2gb (I've seen this card go for $90 to $150 so if you are going to build this PC look around on amazon and Newegg)
Case: Cooler Master MasterBox 5 ($62 on Newegg)
Power Supply: EVGA 500 B1 100-B1-0500-KR 80+ BRONZE 500W ($40 on Newegg)

TOTAL: $504 (buying at highest prices, you can probably find some of these parts for cheaper somewhere on amazon/ebay and you can save $50 by going for a HDD instead of an SSD)

The G4560 got Hyperthreading which makes significant difference in both TF2 and CS:GO.
The 212 Evo does fuck all.
The thermal paste is just a waste of money.
18$ for a fan.

It's not terrible, but perfect? Definitely not.

Also why would you need a different mobo for an i5 or i7?

Hi Setzul, bad day for me :(
I finished the building of my pc and I'm very sure all the pieces are assembled correctly; the problem is: I power on the pc and nothing shows on the monitor like there's something broken in it the pc (or something not compatible).
You can see my build at the top of this page.
My friend says that can be broken motherboard or non compatible rams;
I also tried with the ripjaws ddr4 2x8gb 2400 (which works fine with the very same MOBO) and my pc still dont work.
I'd like to know ur opinion, enlight me please

Does it turn on?
Do the fans run?
Do you hear any beeps?
Do you see any LEDs on the motherboard?
Do you have the monitor hooked up to the video card?

I was confused because you asked about microATX cases.

#2066
#2 is terrible.
#1 and #3 are for different budgets and purposes. You have specified neither.

#2067/#2069
Are you absolutely sure it's the GPU and not the mobo?
Did you select the correct input on the monitor?
Is the monitor plugged in and turned on?

Did you update the BIOS yet? For the 7700 you might need to update the BIOS on the B150M Pro4S.
