Lawena won't show damage numbers

I'm planning on making a frag video and for one of my clips (a scout one) I'd like to have damage numbers but when I load up the demo on Lawena, it won't show damage numbers regardless of whether the "Disable combat text" is checked or not. As a way to solve this I was thinking maybe I can use a custom hud that disables all hud elements besides the killfeed and damage numbers but that seems like a lot of work and if there's another solution I'd rather do that instead.
On a side note, if Lawena's hud shows the same damage numbers as standard TF2, is there any way to change it? Vanilla damage numbers seem too small and hard to read.

you could just type hud_combattext 1 in console

and I think you need a custom hud to change damage numbers but I'm not sure

saamyou could just type hud_combattext 1 in console

I've tried this but it doesn't show the damage numbers still. And the problem with using another hud is that all other elements like health, ammo, etc. are still there when I want to record the pov.

You could edit the hud lawena uses. If you don't want anything special, it only takes a minute. See if the DamageAccountPanel is set to be enabled and visible in hudlayout.res. Then check huddamageaccount.res, set "visible" and "enable" to 1, and the lifetime to ~3. Also change the color and font to your liking. I used HudFontMedium. It's simple and works fairly well I believe.

This is how mine looks:
