Pretty much a completely pointless update that's going to fuck up scrims/matches tonight. Thanks Valve.

But the Last Straw is now paintable!!! ...whatever the fuck that is.

Let's hope the MOTW can be played at the very least.

brownymasterStill no fix for invisible allies? wtf.

browny, updating items to paintable and fixing descriptions is way more important than that.

Well thank god they realize adding a paint option and cosmetic styles are more important than invisible player models and technical issues causing older demos to crash.

they made their money off these paintable items, they don't really care about us. I thought people already knew that

Deep down I hope there's some undocumented fixes for STVs, demos and invisible players.

Of course, that's not happening. Especially the demos, Valve's got their asses covered on that one: http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Replay#Replay_menu

wareyahooky: Replays aren't the same as demos.Replays, before being encoded into movie files, exist in the Source Engine demo format (with the file extension .dem) under the directory /team fortress 2/tf/replay/client/replays. The main limitation of replays in this format is that they are likely to become unreadable in the event of a game update. As such, before exiting the game the player is warned by a dialog message to save existing replays as movie files instead. However, once saved as a movie file, the clip cannot be edited unless using external software.

do you take me for a moron? no shit, I read that. there is still a big difference between pov demos and the stv-like ones that the replay system uses. before the recent update i had pov demos that kept working since i recorded them but replay demos had come and gone periodically.

I didn't say I have pov demos that still work, I said that before the update pov demos kept compatibility between updates more than replays did.

So I found this:

http://etf2l.org/forum/movie/topic-16520/page-1/

It was for the Hatless Update, but I was going to try it anyway. Problem is, it's not available anymore. Although if this worked while demos before then were broken, then I would assume that either this would work or something similar can be made if it doesn't. Chances are that all copies are gone by now, as Valve (supposedly, I don't remember back that far) did end up fixing the demos with the Replay Update (and for that reason I'm still concerned) and it was useless at that point. I would make one myself but I have no C++ experience (just beginning Java) so if I do manage to get it to work it would be horrible.

OK, I tried it and it wouldn't load. I'll have to try to get it working tomorrow night if possible.

Also, it appears that demos from at least prior to the Hatless Update still work. Haven't tried one directly after, but I tried one from October 2011 and it wouldn't load at all.

The plugin might not be signed, requiring it to be loaded with the TF2 launch option -insecure
