mathsadis there a definite release date for the aftermarket coolers/cards? i'm def gonna pick a 1080 up.

I just came across this: http://videocardz.com/59778/gigabyte-teases-geforce-gtx-1080-xtreme-gaming

Marketing material from Gigabyte suggests at least one flavor of their 1080's will be available in June sometime. :)

My assumption and the assumption of others is that nvidia will have their 1-2 weeks of exclusive founders edition sales, then it will be a free for all with aftermarket coolers being available from various other manufacturers.

I really hope that an AIB actually sells the 1080 for $600. Might finally have a reason to overclock my 4790k.

Also, I might wait for Polaris though considering AIB's aren't releasing on the 27th. I'm hoping Computex reveals something about Polaris, as I can wait for Vega/1080Ti if Polaris is a $200-$300 card that's better than the 1070, then upgrade to the HBM2 ram chips next year (Vive is likely coming this week and I'm still on a 760 GTX). Don't have my hopes up that much though.

@63

Details about AMD's Polaris were released today here: https://www.pcper.com/news/Editorial/New-AMD-Polaris-10-and-Polaris-11-GPU-Details-Emerge

Doesn't look like they will be competing with nvidia on high end cards based on those specs. 5.5 TFLOPS from the R9 4000 series vs 9 TFLOPS on the 1080 and 6.5 on the 1070.

I guess it was to be expected. Was hoping that their definition of mainstream could compete with the "$380" nvidia card. The only hope is that AMD might be a bit better to overclock with AIB and surpass the 1070.

Article doesn't tell us if those specs are for R9 480 or R9 490. I don't believe they'll have same specs

Still specs without benchmarks are kinda useless

You'll definitely see AIBs at computex. So that's a good thing.

Oh look what we have here @ Newegg

Interesting I thought founder edition cards were going to be only nvidia branded and not a GPU maker brand. I wonder if these will be $699?

Base UK price for the 1080 is £620. That's $900. Absolutely ridiculous, it doesn't cost them $300 more to sell the card here compared to the US.

More card model numbers and specs have been leaked, which include the 1080 Ti and new GTX Titan and the much more budget friendly GTX 1060: http://www.overclock.net/t/1600793/chiphell-gtx-titan-for-pascal-gtx-1080ti-and-gtx-1060-specifications-leaked

dollarlayer6.5 on the 1070.

Actually it is closer to 5.6 tflops in reality. Boost clocks are only good for benchmarks.

Do you have a source for the 5.6 TFLOPS on the 1070? There is only a 114Mhz (~7%) difference between core and boost clock on the 1070, I don't know how that could account for 0.9 TFLOPS difference?

This is where I saw 6.5 TFLOPS on the 1070.

Whatever the actual numbers are don't really matter that much as those are reference numbers at stock clocks. Most cards these days come with a decent 10-15% factory overclock and can be pushed even further. And by the looks of it, a 20-25% overclock might be possible on these cards!
