Wow, didn't expect it to be that cheap. Got a 980ti last year with the expectation that it would be a year or more until the equivalent nextgen-card hits the same price. Guess I was wrong but at least that means I can easily switch whenever it becomes necessary. Shouldn't be too soon anyway I hope.

Wasn't expecting too much of the 1080/1070 to be honest. I figured the interesting card would be the 980ti equivalent. They blew me away with the specs they're talking about, particularly the one about a single 1080 being better than 980 SLI. As a 980 SLI owner who would like to eke out a bit more to make 4k 60fps a bit easier that's nice to hear. Don't think I'll upgrade though.

how significant of an upgrade would a 1070 be from a 960? I might buy one when its out.

They're saying the 1070 outperforms a titan x which would be incredible if true. However NVidia often fudge their graphs a bit. Most of the performance they talked about was specifically in VR for example or sometimes they talk in performance per watt where you'd expect a straight framerate.

Hyped for ordering 2-3 of those 1080s in June. I believe they are set to be available for order during computex. I'll be in Cuba but I'll be sure and stay glued to my phone screen watching computex not only for the gpus but the new i7s as well :P

I don't understand the moon thing but does 3 even work? I thought you need 2 or 4 (I have no experience with nvidia sli)

i dont think opting for 3 gpus where some amount of statistical information available about its often diminishing returns is comparable to the concept of sending people to the moon for the first time

Both crossfire and sli work with 3 gpus. Any more than 2 is showing off really. 2 works pretty well across the board in my experience except in some games where either performance isn't a problem or they were so badly optimised you weren't going to get a good framerate with 1 anyway. 3 is similar but less likely to scale better and more likely to outright not work and 4 is basically just for benchmark high scores.

Just messin with ya is all. Basically if it can be done then why not?

And yeah there's not system breaking issues anymore on SLI crossfire yet people continue to bring it up. Though there's promise that maybe this year's new tech will work well lot optimize multiple gpu configurations? We will see.

and i thought AMD polaris was supposed to be out way sooner than nvidia pascal :(

oh well, time for nvidia to update their drivers and wreck performance of the older generation again ;)

Well the fact is that Polaris is comprised of only entry level cards and notebook gpus, so theres no cards to compete with the 1080/1070, maybe with Vega but thats basically another year of waiting. #hypekiller
