Bhopping on jump maps is generally used as a strat (or intentional mechanic) to skip otherwise long/annoying/impossible jumps. It requires a tick-perfect jump input in order to work successfully, and learning when to press space at the right time is generally the recommended way for that context. When bhopping in actual gameplay (as a way to gain speed), it isn't exactly very practical to use space because it doesn't necessarily have to be frame perfect, just at some time shortly after you hit the ground, so scrollwheel is generally miles easier. It is still possible with spacebar but you are much more likely to mess up.

strazyyybhopping in tf2 is practically useless except for some jumps that aren't useful in a competitive environment unless you cheat which would make you faster by a negligible amount anyway which is like 1,1%

It can be very useful to cheat rampslides if you are just below the velocity to hit the slide. If you are familiar enough with the bhop timing it can help on a few rollouts as well, when I fuck up the last jump of the standard demo rollout on process, I often bhop to get the rampslide that I wouldn't hit otherwise.

I have never bhopped in any game other than tf2 and there are plenty of top jumpers that would disagree with how difficult this is being portrayed as

MelonTFI have never bhopped in any game other than tf2 and there are plenty of top jumpers that would disagree with how difficult this is being portrayed as

probably because you're referring to bhop servers that use a shitty plugin that you can hold the spacebar to jump repeatedly

I only play on tempus, there are no bhop plugins

EDIT probably should have prefaced my posts with this but I have over 2000 hours of experience with jump and jump mechanics, but keep in mind these are relative to jumping
