B@GSER FIVE have risen as the winner of the ETF2L Season 23 High Division, as they took out BackGet Foolery in the grand finals and have earned a spot in the ETF2L Season 24 Premiership Division.
The beginning of 2016 saw months of intense competition in Europe, with twenty-nine teams competing for the ETF2L High title and a chance to move up to the most prestigious division in Europe, the Premiership. Six teams were able to move up to the playoffs, and after some high adrenaline matches, B@GSER FIVE and became the kings of ETF2L.
To be crowned as the kings of ETF2L High, the teams first have to fight their way through playoffs; B@GSER placed first place during the regular season, and earned a first round bye into the playoffs, while second place Lowpander also gained a bye as well. In the quarterfinals, 3/6 took down GA 2016 runner ups Salty Frogs in a close series, while BackGet Foolery easily dispatched Professional Disney Fangirls in a clean sweep.
In the semi-finals, B@GSER FIVE had an easy win against 3/6 to move up to the grand final, with two perfect games on Sunshine and Product. On the other side of the bracket, BackGet Foolery put up a fight in their series against Lowpander, starting with a convincing 5-1 win on Granary. Lowpander tried to slow the game down on Snakewater, BackGet Foolery got the better end by closing out the game 2-0, and moved on to face off against B@GSER.
The best of three began on Granary, and B@GSER got off to a good start by winning three rounds in a row. BackGet answered back by getting a round for themselves. B@GSER weren’t shaken that easily, and aggression from the Russian comrades allowed them to get a round on the board. But then the Frenchmen collapsed, as B@GSER were able to capitalize on their mistakes and earn two rounds back to back. And with the clock dwindling down to zero, the first map went to B@GSER.
The teams then headed over to Sunshine, and the the first round was explosive; with Timus' 4k at the mid giving B@GSER the first round win. In the next round, BackGets win the mid but fail in trying to cap last . B@GSER then made their way to the French’s last to clean up the baguettes and gain another round in their favor. BackGet then decide to slow down the game and, by taking their time, were able to tie up the game 2-2. The final round came down to the wire, and with BackGets’ backs against the wall and the time ticking down, they attempt a hold at their last. But with just four seconds left on the clock, B@GSER FIVE wipe out the Frenchies, giving B@GSER FIVE the game, match, and championship of the ETF2L Season 23 High Division.
