in-game stream list idea

although the stream list is a great step in the right direction, does anyone else think it would be better to show the active streams by default rather than needing to click the streams button to view them?

i think the TFTV style approach of having a small sidebar that is visible by default would be the best way to get more TF2 players watching the streams. if we had to click a button to show the streams on TFTV, i'm sure the amount of people watching streams would be far less. seems like the increase in viewers from the in-game stream list isn't as high as people might have expected, and I think this might be a factor in that

apologies if theres already a thread about this topic, but im curious if anyone feels the same

edit: nevermind, it is open by default IGNORE, my hud was just fucked lmao

as far as I know it is supposed to be visible by default unless you were to click the button to turn it off

Has the stream list had any impact at all? Viewership numbers for all the top streams have barely changed besides gaining by 50 or so.

Yep every time I open the game, the list is open by default.

I would say top streamers have had a 100-200 viewer increase, while the even the average personal streamer has been able to get a lot more viewers than they normally ever could have snagged.
examples:
b4nny got an average of 300 viewers per stream while now getting 500
truktruk used to get around 150 and now is able to get 300

Imo, the best improvement they can make is embedding streams directly onto the game like they did with csgo

Stream list has had some effect, an ozfort open game got a steady 100 or so viewers last night, div5 (similar-ish level) grand final got about 60 last season.

They should just make the list a banner going across the bottom of the screen's width that opens a window with the actual stream, instead of this weird steam browser stuff.

Honestly if the time zones were not so far apart so many more people would watch ozfortress

I'd be watching OzFortress and Aussie streamers if the matches didn't happen at 2 AM my time. I try my best to watch them on weekends though

I've streamed twice since the update at really awkward times (6am-9am est) and I was getting 60+ viewers and gained something like 75 followers in those two mornings. Normally at that time period I'd get ~10/15. It has definitely increased overall viewership for streams!

An Open groups match in LBTF2 got around 60 viewers, it used to get 30 at most before.
