Framerate changes increasing movement speed

I was messing with framerate and I noticed something. When my FPS increased, my movement speed did also. I've made a video showcasing this problem here.

For reference, framerate was 600-1000 depending on the area, and my specs can be found here.

Additional test; doesn't affect firerate but affects reload speed.

when you start hitting 1000 fps tf2 starts freaking out. At least this is what people have said so that might be what you are experiencing.

Is this why some scouts move a bit faster than other scouts? Or is that just my imagination, I could swear some scouts move faster than others (without using any unlocks for it).

EDIT: what's with the - frags lol

I have done and I get a constant 400. Since the game is moving faster, it can't tell that I'm moving faster.

Happens to me outside of my own servers, too. It's just easier to show on my own server because I can get more consistent framerates.

pretty sure it's been known for a while that high enough framerates can break the game, but iirc the effects are only client side
so when it seems like you can move super fast and shit, the server will give you rubber banding and teleport you backwards as if you're rate hacking
there may also be audio bugs that make it seem like your footsteps are faster, but unless there have been major changes since I last looked into it, I don't think it affects anyone but you
so the long and short of it is that it just makes the game more difficult for you to play, making it look like you are lagging on your screen but normal to everyone else

I defenitely used to have this when I consistantly had above 1000fps, I now locked it to 289 and no more problems

It's a client-side problem, only happens if you host a game.
Also can screw in jump/mge servers where you meet most of the time really high fps, you will start "warping" while jumping/running because client-side you should be going faster but the server is stopping you. It's a known problem with very high fps, most of people says it happens "over 1000 only" but it happens to me over 500.

but wait, from comanglia's config:

"fps caps on PCs that consistently meet that cap causes horrible input lag when attempting to turn/aim"

doesn't that mean fps_max is actually a pretty bad choice here?, if you consistently hit the number that causes this stuttering?

I think it might actually be better, as ridiculous as it sounds, to find as many commands as possible to lower your FPS

If you have over 500fps you have a place to disable multicore rendering, which is the only possible cause of fps_max giving uncalled-for input lag. (no, multicore rendering otherwise can only reduce input lag when there's no fps cap)
