YouP1zz4Th13fI'm really hoping that dx9 thing gets removed, seriously. It gets me from 80 fps down to 40 and everything looks like it's covered in body gel. I understand skins need a more powerful API to render those dank graphics they have, but having it on matchmaking is just stupid.
Lighting commands that can help dx9 look less gross:
- Mat_phong 0
-Mat_specular 0
-Mat_bumpmap 0

Also try these launch options:
-high
-nod3d9ex

Thanks a lot, fps actually improved by 5-10 frames and even 20 on some situations, no idea why. Life saver.

Any odds that they will drop vanilla viaduct and replace it with product, or put product in matchmaking instead of vanilla viaduct?

similarly to this, have they said that they're going to use pro maps (granary pro, etc) rather than the defaults at all? has valve implemented any pro maps before other than process?

Valve has been very open to adopting community changes to maps in CS:GO in the past (as well as incrementing their own changes). I wouldn't be surprised if they incorporated the changes into their own version (It might retain it's snow theme though).

Process isn't a pro map, it's a custom map. Valve has never implemented any pro versions of maps and probably never will because they want to appeal to people who play the game casually. If you've played 2 hours/week on viaduct since 2009 and suddenly it changes you will be really confused.

Whether or not they will use them in a matchmaking mode is unknown. They didn't use pro versions of maps in csgo mm and instead tried to add some of the changes the pro versions made that they liked into the regular versions of the maps.

deeterProcess isn't a pro map

wasn't it made specifically for 6v6? wouldn't that make it fall under the "pro map" category? pro maps are just versions of maps that had changes made to them with competitive play in mind, but if a map is specifically made with that in mind wouldn't it count?

I meant it isn't a modified version of a map. If you want to count all customs as pro maps then there are a few of those in the game (gully, snake, borneo). Adding a custom map officially is different from modifying an existing map imo

I sort of assumed this is why viaduct_pro has that awkward new name of product. I mean, if TF2 can have weird halloween versions of maps, I don't see why they couldn't have pro variants, style them up as "alternatively-themed of old classics" since a lot of them are also artpassed for a more summer-like season

Valve should add the pro maps, like how there used to be "se" maps in csgo. Then again, they removed the se maps because it apparently split up the community(?).

I'm here with the unpopular opinion that there was nothing ever wrong with Viaduct other than allowing snipers to be viable on the majority of the map. This might be an awful idea for people who dislike snipers, but maybe Valve enjoys the prospect of maps that cater to more than 4 classes in their MM system.

Tunnel by stairs is the major addition Valve should be looking to add into the standard version.

Could be wrong but don't people have vision issues with default via? Snow colour scheme isn't helpful even with my 20/20 vision.

Color blind players have said they didn't like it. Players with white crosshairs also complained. The snowfall weather effect dumps on fps, but there is a cvar to turn it off. I feel like people conflated that issue with the basic snow texture of the map, which I personally always found as smooth and easier to see blue/red targets against.

In my games people run sniper 24/7 even in the pro version.

It might be an EU gimmick thou ^^

stock viaduct's biggest problem is the lack of a hole in the wall

pro viaduct's more-sniper-unfriendly fences are more like icing on the cake

Maybe if you like requiring sentries just to keep scouts from running the intel in a straight line while avoiding every single chokepoint on the map
