u click the class u wanna play and then when theres 12 people added with 2 captains it starts picking teams. then u click the join mumble button if u get picked.

its mostly open+ players tho so you prolly wont get picked if ur new

Hey SkyH4igh,
tf2pug.me is a website used to play pick-up games. Pick-up games are games where 2 captains pick from the pool of players added to create two teams of 6 people. Generally the skill level is anywhere from mid-open to invite. It's a little hard to get into if you're not known, because captains need to know you to pick you; however, when there's only 12 people or so added, you may or may not get picked, have a chance to prove yourself, become more known, and then be picked more regularly. Playing in ESEA is also a very good way to get known and be picked more often.

Best of luck!

Also, if you find you aren't being picked in tf2pug.me then you can also try TF2 Center but the games there are of a lower quality.

if your a noname u have a solid 10% chance of getting picked unless theres exactly 12 people added up :(

If you are getting into competitive, Tf2pugme is not the right place to start! Those pugs cater to the very top percentage of competitive TF2 players. A pug group such as Power Pugs or TF2Center.com would be a much better place to get into comp!

Groups such as Power Pugs and Newbie Mix pugs are inhouse pugs (there is no website or client). These steam groups make announcements and everyone joins a server. The general process is a pug moderator will call "last to spec is medic" and the last two are made medic, though this will change depending on the group. The medics will fight with melee and choose fist or second pick (first gets first pick but one pick and second gets second and third pick). Inhouse pugs tend to be more serious than centers and I would definitely recommend trying inhouse pugs before pugme.

Here are a few:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/KeyPugs (silver-gold pugs)
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/newbie6v6pug (steel usually really late at night)
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/zheeppugs (high open - IM)
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Pwrpugs (low open)

It would have been great if I had known this before I went onto TF2Pug.me. There's a MASSIVE skill gap between tf2c and pugme, and these little groups kind of fill some of the bridge.

post needs to be stickied or something

negasoraMixes don't, pugs do

Then listing "newbie mixes" probably isn't the best idea.

That said, OP, I recommend newbie mixes. They're taken very seriously and as a new player you'll be given advice from your coach post-game (and sometimes during the game).

It should probably be said that newbie mixes != newbie mix pugs. In newbie mixes, each team will be given a coach, whereas in newbie pugs, you're on your own

yeah I captain if I want to get picked

if you don't have enough games to captain just add as med you'll get picked way more often

this goes for all the roamer and scout perpetual fatkids too. just add medic stop wasting everyone's time by sitting there added as only scout or roamer when we need 2 meds and a demo
