Can't change brightness on dx8

When I'm on dx9 I can change the brightness just fine, but when I change to dx8.1 I can slide the brightness slider in the options but it doesn't change anything. I am running in full screen and using Comanglia's config.

Edit: Problem solved by disabling aero extensions ingame.

mat_monitorgamma also doesn't change anything. I used to be able to use dx8 without problems but I don't know what's changed now.

marmadukeGRYLLSsomething hidden in the config thats locking the brightness?

Would be weird if there was a setting that would lock brightness on dx8 and not dx9.

-snip-

A bit weird considering this shouldn't happen in full screen. you're absolutely sure it isnt windowed no border or some small mistake?

Bump. I am sure that the game is running in full screen. In windowed I'm pretty sure you can't even open the brightness slider in options, but I can, it's just that moving the slider doesn't change anything.

so, if you don't touch anything on your computer, and simply change dx8 to d9 in tf2, then it works again..?

edit: what graphics card are you using?

I fixed the problem by disabling aero extensions in the advanced video options ingame.
