Seeing as we eSports now, what is everybody's thoughts on Valve sponsored tournaments? Would these happen? Maybe have eSports cases drop with key revenue that go towards the tournaments etc. Opening these cases could give top-team unusuals, Orbiting Froyotech logo etc? Depending on the gamemode Valve go with this could be very interesting to see.

Would love to see Froyo, Mix^, 20b jersies being sold on the Mann Co. store for funding teams/tourneys, even though it's too early to think about that.

I don't think it'd solely be sponsored by Valve, just like all CS tournaments valve would work together with someone else, perhaps ESL or ESEA. Of course this would require ESL to pick up tf2 or for ESEA not to drop it.

One step at a time.

There's potential for all that I think, but first the update itself needs to see the light of the day. Then I guess when details are ironed out the game of numbers will decide our fate. But valve can very much influence that with esport items. CSGO scene saw a exponential increase with esport cases/items.

Valve is data driven. If tournaments start to get massive viewerships then we could potentially see a Valve sponsored tournament. Keep in mind that CSGO didn't get Valve sponsored tournaments until they were getting a lot more viewers than we get now

That sounds great, but unlike other games I think TF2 teams come and go too quickly. An argument can be made saying all of them have been around a while, but if you think about it, it's just been the top 4 really: froyo, 20b, mad men, and eLv. The other teams have fallen just as fast as they have risen (nice nice nice for example)

Its nice to know there will be some progress with match making, but as everyone has said in this thread, don't push your luck. At this point we should be very thankful for the upcoming support thats going to atleast keep the game going.
