experimental csgo section + changes

http://teamfortress.tv/cs

i've noticed a significant portion of the tf2 community also plays/follows csgo and am curious to see if a section dedicated to the game can gain any traction.

to that end, i've whipped up a (crude and probably buggy) news aggregator that pulls posts from hltv/esea/csgo blog and soon thedailydot + aftonbladet.

i've also enabled previous tftv+ features on that section of the site, which i hope to release site-wide pending a lack of performance issues. these features include:

  • a number next to the post count that represents the number of new posts since your previous visit to the thread
  • clicking a thread link takes you to the last post in the thread from your previous visit

please note that thread tracking is account-bound, which means that these features won't be active when you're logged out. csgo threads should also show all threads as containing all new posts since nothing's been tracked until now.

anyways, the csgo stuff is just proof-of-concept that i can improve/expand on by miles, but i'd like to gauge a general reaction before pouring effort into it.

thoughts?

You can already choose exactly which sections show up on your sidebar.

Not sure if this is a bug but when I set my forum subscription preferences, if I disable the cs:go sub-forums I can't view the cs:go section at all; the page is blank.

Good job indeed.

If it was csgo.tv it'd be even easier to gain new members and make this thing big, but perhaps that's not what you want?

if u disable csgo discussion things in settings then go to the csgo section it gives a blank screen, can we still get access to it or disable the button when the options are off?

aim-I'm p sure we only have 1 guy here who plays pro dota, 2c

Several people from this community play the game often casually (including myself) and at least somewhat follow the competitive scene. Pretty similar to how most others are with CSGO around here. Plenty of dota related threads pop up from time to time and having a dedicated section for it like CS now has would be kinda nice. There's already a tab for it in the stream list.
