In the ARMA 3 mod, drugs aren't really a currency but definitely used to make money. You can smoke weed, do coke/meth/etc. When you do meth your screen freaks out, think LSD trip. If you do too much you overdose and die.

It'll be cool when its finished but it's going to be at least two years.

MarleyHate to be that guy but I cant help but feel like they are way over reaching what they will actually be capable of. They are saying they will have hyper realistic cars, guns 270 square km map and an entire functioning economy that are completely reliant on players(and I dont see any mention of other games or products these guys have worked on. Which is a pretty big red flag imo) but if a few bits of concept art and some tiny mock up levels of a house and and a shop are all you need to have people throw money at you i don't see why you wouldn't do it.

EDIT: did some research and it looks like the main guy only experience was working as a programer on the MMO "Mortal Online" which I have never even heard of before so hardly filling me with confidence about the game

Mortal Online was an MMO in the same vein as Darkfall, Ultima Online or Shadowbane, if you've ever heard of those. It featured an open world with a large map that was seamless, meaning no instances or loading screens when going into any part of the world. They were mainly known for being decent attempts at sandbox fantasy MMOs, with player housing and customization, player built cities, and player driven economies a la EVE.

Mortal never really became a big hit but it did have big dreams and pulled off some pretty big things. There are no AAA developers that have tried to pull of things like Mortal and Darkfall, so you're not going to find many people with that kind of experience to put on your team if you're trying to pull off something similar.

Impossibly ambitious in scope and scale, and a teaser trailer consisting of a few canned environments and concept art. Sign me up!

This game would take way too long to play in any meaningful way even if this guy can follow up on all these promises

This game is funny for 5 minutes, and then you probably just get really bad buyer's remorse, mainly because if a game becomes too realistic there is no point in playing it.

It could be a really cool idea for psychology test, where you let people run a simulation of certain situations and see what they do with their oppertunities without real life consequences.

A lot of this reminds me of star wars galaxys and it sounds like it will require just as much no lifing. But as a drug dealer irl I don't see the appeal

People will get arrested IRL when people advertising their drug dealing operation in the game will undoubtedly be mistaken for a dumbass small timer on craigslist.

Some people are saying this guy is an overambitious dev, but the deceptive nature of the video makes me think this might just be a scam and that the idea is to hype up some nonexistent game and then disappear with the kickstarter funds.

The fact that the 9 minute long "gameplay video" appears to not contain a single second of gameplay, but instead is just a repeating loop of unrelated seeming tech demos while some weirdo Canadian makes vague and impossible promises is pretty suspicious to me. Its pretty clear he has absolutely nothing so far and he doesn't even seem to have a team.

The funny thing is that even if this guy was willing or able to deliver this game it still sounds terrible. It would basically be one of those Arma life mods with even more boring shit thrown in.

I'm pretty sure all of us have at one point or another dreamed of a game that was just like real life, where you could do anything. Most of us then realized how impractical/boring that would be.

Don't worry though I'm sure once this guy gets $120,000 he'll definitely make this game and totally not just pocket that money
