Transparent Viewmodels in any HUD

Diogo_Rajadasthe thing is when i delete that everything goes back to normal

heres my my hudlayout
also using dx8 (if it is relevant)

You need to paste it after the

"Resource/HudLayout.res"
{

In other words above the //crosshairs line

Though as a warning, it will not work with dx8 once you put it in properly. dx9 is needed.

Nope. All this can do is make hud elements, viewmodels, and some already transparent world textures and models it seems, transparent. It doesn't in any way actually change how the viewmodels act or appear beyond its alpha.

I can get it to work on private servers but then go to comp servers and doesn't work. Is this some issue with sv_pure? Or some small thing I did wrong?

Ok heres a simple way to follow: first you download the .vtf and .vmt file and put it here:

then you paste the text to here:

http://puu.sh/e97lt/651bac4e80.png

after that you have/make a textfile in your config that has something to do with your tf2 settings and put this in there, if you already have one the command might already be there and you just have to put 1 instead of 0, i had to put the last 2 commands under it.

Just a quick note: You can "toggle" these viewmodels between transparent and opaque by using your HUD's minmode.

In the "hudlayout" section of the original post, add a new line under "visible" that is called "visible_minmode" - and then change the 1 to a 0.

In game, if you type cl_hud_minmode 0 in console, your viewmodels should be back to normal.

This means that if you want transparent viewmodels for specific classes, simply put "cl_hud_minmode 1" in that class config, and 0 anywhere else.

I'm having trouble getting it to work. I'm using dxlevel 9.

I'm using "ahud". I've put the refract-files into the thumbnails folder inside 'ahud'. I've pasted the hudlayout text into the hudlayout.res and I've edited the autoexec with the commands.

Yet it still doesn't work. But my hud doesn't get all screwed up after I've pasted it in. Everything looks perfectly normal. The transparency just don't work for me.

Here is my hudlayout unedited (if someone could help me place the text inside the file in case I'm still screwing it up somehow). http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=49645120988254511400

EDIT: NVM i'm an idiot. It does work. Just not on skial servers. Stupid of me to go into the first server I found on the top browser list to try it out. Kinda weird how it doesn't work there though.

I have the vtf and vtm in tf\custom\hud\materials\vgui\replay\thumbnails, the Transparentviewmodelmask in my hudlayout.res and the three commands in my autoexec, but it doesn't work for me.
Any ideas?

It won't work on maps with water if you're not using an fps config, but should work every other time.

This is the first I've heard of for custom and non-custom maps.

What i might have done wrong is when copy pasting the text into my chris's fps config i read i had to replace a few commands with the text above so that console commands dont disable my viewmodels i just copy and pasted the text right into the bottom of my chris's fps config... Any help would be extremely appreciated!!!!!

Are you sure you're running the game as dx9? As it's been said many times before, dx8 does not work with this.

Are you sure you're running the game as dx9? As it's been said many times before, dx8 does not work with this.
