ill pay your league fees

I will pay 50% of THREE teams (that I deem fit) league fees for ESEA Open S18. Edit: Thanks to HX this number has increased to four. I think paying half of 3 teams is better than just sponsoring one. Hopefully with some help I/we can do more. If anyone wants to help, please pm me.

Requirements:

Roster composed of returning low-level players, brand new players(to open) with a few open returnees, or special restrictive monetary cases

No players with bad rep (cheating history, douche bag personality history)

Dedicated team. If you're going to take my money, don't waste it.

I won't sponsor:

Players already on a roster, registered on ESEA, with some players paid.(this shows your intent to pay anyway despite my offer)

    Sandbaggers (obvi)

To apply, add me or send me a pm and I will decide from there who gets sponsored or not.

If you would like to help so we can sponsor more teams, pm me. If ESEA dies, your money will be refunded in full.
I love this game; lets not let it die while we can do something about it. And maybe the game won't die even if I do this anyway. In that case, happy holidays I guess lol

Also please check out this generous incentive offered by plinko to new open players! http://teamfortress.tv/thread/21803/ugc--open-s18-prize-challenge

What about a team of open players, who have been in open forever... And might have their first chance of getting out of open?

I'm trying to decide between sponsoring some low teams like this or just offering a cash prize to the top teams of new players/that make the jump from UGC/somesuch in Open.

Any suggestions/ideas?

DavidTheWinHow much does this cost?

Registration fees for a single player is 10 USD, not counting premium. Also, bump for visibility. One of three team spots reserved.

Also, this is not for good or returning players to mooch off of. It's for new or low level players that either need help paying or don't play in ESEA because they arent sure if they want to pay to play.
Edit: also I won't be home until later tonight so don't fret if I haven't responded

Definitely the latter. There seems to be a lot of talent in UGC that could make the jump with a little nudging.

I feel that paying fees would get more teams to join rather than offering a prize (which might not be seen as that great of an incentive considering teams would have to pay to qualify for the prize).

Hey Cook! I appreciate you for doing this for those players who were unsure of going into ESEA, or could not pay their fees. I added you to discuss the possibility of supporting us. Thanks again! Also, I was considering taking you up on your offer bl4nk, unless you already filled on the two teams.

Yeah, thinking it over I felt that what I wanted to do was give teams something to shoot for by playing in ESEA.

My gut feeling is that it's not the fees that keeps teams from trying ESEA, rather that transition in playing is hard (we can't all be Street Hoops), so I am giving out an incentive for teams to not only sign up but to play it through.

I might be wrong and literally no one will sign up based on accepting the challenge, and so I'm glad Cook (and anyone else who sponsors teams at any level) do what they're doing because we cover more bases that way.

I agree that the transition is hard and most likely the main cause, UGC to ESEA is a big step and that was a big problem for our team, but I'm sure there's also some cheap people out there who just don't feel like dropping $15 to play TF2 competitively. I know a couple myself :P
