A cafe where you can reserve an hour to hang out with cats! I'm going this week.

AFAIK it's pretty much a normal cafe with a cat attachment (you pay $10 to reserve an hour with them, per person, or walk in but no guarantees). Also you can adopt the cats.

I'm super excited to visit.

I know there's a cafe in the neighborhood that does occasional events where they bring in cats from the local pound. It's pretty popular and they've been in business for a while, so I'm not surprised to see someone expand on that model.

I think he more or less just doubts how popular that idea is going to be in the states other than for initial novelty

these things are really popular in japan (mostly tokyo and shit like that) but the main contributing factor for that is because none of their housing really allows pets of any sort - not really the case here since most apartments tend to at least allow cats

Yeah that makes sense. I hope they do well enough to keep going, at least. We'll see when I go, but it seems like a very beneficial environment for the cats to hang out and possibly get adopted.

Having a cat of your own is so much better than petting some whore slut cat at a cafe

The cafe part is a separate area, they made sure that the whole place was to code and cafe safety rules (something like that).
