This is a pretty good move, ignoring Amazons shitty smart phones they haven't really done much wrong, they cater to their customers and if you've ever dealt with their customer service it's normally top notch.

They'll also help massively with the hosting side of things as well.

much happier about this outcome, fuck youtube. plus amazon has experience from AWS in running large infrastructures so its a natural choice.

I imagine amazon putting up buy links for music instead of muting everything. That would be wonderful.

One concern is that amazon has a bad rep as an employer. Friends at companies who've been acquired by amazon complain about the new management, and some have left their otherwise very good development jobs.

Interesting. I read an article a few weeks ago that speculated the content ID system that twitch implemented was a move twitch did on it's own in order to make them seem more marketable after talks with Google fell through. Looks like it worked.

But which is the lesser of two evils? Muted music or a pop-up asking if you want to buy it?

Maybe they'll allow streaming Amazon Prime music through your Twitch stream? That'd be great.

narfInteresting. I read an article a few weeks ago that speculated the content ID system that twitch implemented was a move twitch did on it's own in order to make them seem more marketable after talks with Google fell through. Looks like it worked.

No, this is mainly down so individuals don't get sued, there had been a rather large rumour 2 years ago about twitch not allowing music at all, this was going to be an issue that had to be addressed as twitch has been growing so quickly. One of the guys there said that they had to do it as if they get sued the company would probably go under. They have to start showing they are making the effort.

Can't wait for people to learn more about Amazon as a business because it's obvious nobody knows what to think yet.

Twitch is growing faster than they can handle.. guess who does infrastructure and content delivery and logistics better than almost anyone?

This is like your paper route being bought by UPS. This is good.

A logical solution that also doesn't hurt their consumers? I only believe it when I see it
