I hope people don't forget iM vs Epsilon in the group stage, that was as close to a 30 minute highlight reel as you get.

Real Americans went to sleep knowing that their country would take care of business and then drink good American coffee with American homemade pancakes with American molasses while watching the vod and aftermath

I cannot confirm it officially, but Nymthae said that tf2 will probably not get featured in i-series again :'(

Maybe lower bracket finals would have ended earlier if it didn't take 30 minutes to change the map

Well, if that's true at least we went on a high note. That saddens me though, was great weekend of action. :(

Aww really? If that's true that is so saddening... I've only been playing Tf2 since June of 2012 which is barely anything compared to anyone else. Was really looking forward to all the other i-series events, never had the time to watch i49 and I didn't even know i46 existed at the time. So is competitive Tf2 slowly dying? I also heard some teams and players are leaving too.

What does not featured mean? Frankly we had better matches on our own down in the basement, when we were not forced to play at 10 am and had better production. If not featured means no on stage finals then that is little more than a formality. We barely got an on stage final this year, they did nothing extra for it and it was a weak experience even before the disappointing match. The stage meant nothing, the crowd was not hyped and the players were tired.

TF2 is like, the second/third biggest comp pc fps right now. Probably 2nd since quake is on its way out soon. The only one bigger than tf2 right now is CSGO.

We could just run our own cup at i55 then? More creative control!

It's nothing official.

It's less likely, as the business grows, purely from a commercial perspective. There are guys on our side at Multiplay though, so we'll see for next summer. I've asked for them to keep us in the loop on it so i'll try and get the news out asap either way come next year.

The only problem being that this fact doesn't seem to mean anything to the powers that be in e-sports organizations. PC FPSes are yesterdays news, and MOBAs are the new hotness.

If Multiplay did drop TF2 from the i-series it's kinda silly, the viewer amount and commitment from the players/casters/production was probably a lot more than some of the other games at i-series.

TF2 has been a "fun" tournament in the past. It didn't attract what it does now. There's a variety of reasons, but i'm sure that 5k pool currently goes some way to helping this scale of competition actually happen.

The time sucked a bit, but it can't be helped. It's a pure fact - sponsors aren't interested in TF2. We take what we get. 10am final and 5k beats no stage final and no money, most likely. Multiplay have been so, so accommodating to make the last couple of years happen.

As for the hype and players - that's a community fault. We like our parties and our drink I guess. The games could, and should have ended earlier last night, but if teams don't make the effort to start games on time then it gets on late into the night. Plus, it's far easier to be hyped about a close game than what actually happened. I'd have loved a later final, but other than that, what extra do you want? The community makes our game, imo, not sure what else could be done. Open to suggestions here, if i55 happens, I need to know what to try and ask for.

Hopefully for i55 we can keep sending iM, 4G, and mix along with euro teams like epsilon. Maybe we could send a 3rd NA team like Exertus (Who beat froyo 5-2 in esea). And then maybe a South American team like MONSTER? Idk, just speculating to get more top teams involved.

Edit: Apparently mixup is retiring after this esea season.

Also fyi Multiplay don't plan THAT far in advance. I will say there won't be any TF2 at i53, and i54, but the discussion about i55 hasn't happened.

pls no more ask

Maybe we could try and broaden TF2 for i55 and run cups/tournaments for MGE, bball, ultiduo and 4v4 in addition to 6v6 and highlander? Limit signups to prevent potential excessive overlap between events (which cause delays) and get various TF2 communities like tf2pickup to sponsor those smaller tournaments?
