Is there a Nordstrom Rack near where you live? I've gotten all my shoes there (since they tend to be heavily discounted and really high quality) and they've lasted an eternity.

I have to order online, I live in rural Wisconsin and have no time to go to a store.

Some LL bean stuff lasts FOREVER, plus their return policy is top notch as long as you dont take advantage of it like an asshole

I would look for something with Vibram soles. My brother stole me a pair of boots from the Marine Corp and they're Vibrams. I've had em for 10 years or so now and the soles are still in great shape. Before anyone gives me shit about stealing them, no one in his unit wore size 15's.

I'm not sure if they will qualify as looking good in your mind, but ASICS and Brooks running shoes last a long long time.

How much are you looking to spend and do have a rough shoe size we can go by?
In the meantime, I found two pairs which are pretty good for walking, but might be a tad expensive.

New Balance 927s - Expensive but great. This retailer only has a few sizes sadly.
New Balance 928s - Cheaper but still pretty good. Have heard mixed reviews about durability but most have said it lasted them a few years.

I'm a size 11 and am willing to drop up to about $200 on a pair of shoes if it they will actually last. I'm trying to avoid sneakers, something like these are more my style but obviously the durability just isn't there.

If you're into boots, you could get some Red Wings or something. You'll have to break them in for a bit, but once they're broken in, they will last a long long time as well be very comfortable.

If you go to Merrell's website, they have some great hiking footwear. I specifically use the hiking shoes (not boots) to walk around all the time. I have been using my Merrell Chameleon shoes for years, and they have no holes in them at all.

i have a pair of desert boots, and i can honestly say they are some of the worst shoes for long hours on your feet, they're much more of a shoe you wear for style

even if they aren't your style something like these wont look terrible, and will give you the support you'll want if you're going to want for standing all day.

A good pair of Sperrys can last you long. Used them everyday and walked for miles and they still look new... They're a year old too

Yeah, CDB aren't for walking in the conditions Lange mentioned. They're more for style and won't properly support your feet for extended periods of time.

i walk several miles a day in puma running shoes and they've lasted for 8 months+ and were around ~$200 (in your budget)

i think it's better to buy okay running shoes and replace them every few months though because i'm sure it's not good for my feet

Vans are super durable, but idk if I'd walk around for hours in them. I think my feet start to hurt around the 90 minute mark, but if you have different experiences with them, then I'd say go for them. They'll certainly last.

I bought my running shoes there. The great thing about them is that when you go into that store, they ask you whether you will be doing a lot of walking or running. Then they have you get on a treadmill and see how you run/walk, look at your arches, and a bunch of other stuff to find a shoe that is going to work for you, feel nice, and fit your budget.

If there isn't a location near you, maybe you can find a store similar? Other than that, I'd recommend Asics for any long term walking/running. I love mine.

I Wear mine for hours walking around and riding bikes. even gone hiking in them a couple times when I forgot my hiking boots. While they werent the best ankle support for hiking my feet didnt really hurt at the end. I could just be used to them tho

For walking around at camp and hiking I'd say just go with an hiking shoe/boot or trailrunners. These usually are waterproof and have soles that will hold up. Pretty much everyone is in gym shoes, shorts and tshirts the entire time at camp. It's usually pretty muddy so no use in wearing nice stuff.

I'd say you can't go wrong with mostly anything off this list: backcountry

Really anything from Patagonia, Keen, Merrell, Vasque, La Sportiva, and Salomon will work great.

Walking shoes are the exact same thing as running shoes. They do the exact same thing which is to protect your feet from certain stresses. If you have wider feet I would suggest Asics and Saucony. They tend to have wider toeboxes and a fairly even profile throughout the shoe. If you are heavier you likely have pronation (feet roll in when you apply pressure on your foot, arches cave in a bit), so get a pair of stability shoes with mild support. Too much can kill your arches (heavier people tend to have literally no arch).

Source: competitive runner for 10 years and worked in a running shoe store for 2 years. I've fitted a lot of people ^_^

Vans era 59 Comfortable, has some leather accents

Cole Haan Lunargrands These have a more "formal" upper but the sole is the lunar cushioning system from Nike. They're really comfortable. They also come in oxford and wingtips as well.

As for something like a actual oxford or wingtip or even boots, they'll run you at least $300 for a good pair, but they'll last forever if cared for properly.

I wear these as a normal-everyday type shoe and they are extremely comfortable. Would recomend
