From ETF2L forums
Heya, so i decided to play with Hammer (to learn more about it) and i said to myself, why not improve (fix bugs, add few things) cp_steel map? So here you go, changelog:

BLU Spawn:

-Can stand on BLU Spawn Barricade http://i.imgur.com/cZ255gS.jpg
-Can't shoot into BLU Spawn anymore, as seen in here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CtiPcJ2374
-Changed Respawn position in spawn on B point capture http://i.imgur.com/PCF7ySi.png

RED Spawn:

-On C cap, spawns are a bit more forward http://i.imgur.com/XlswoLI.png

A point:

-Gave playerclip to a Small pipe on a Building
-Flames don’t go through Gates on A until you capped it

B Point:

-Made a small ledge on A-B Dropdown, so that Scout with winger+atomizer can get up there http://i.imgur.com/YFMarZD.jpg
-Fixed being able to stand so high above the lamp http://i.imgur.com/uHYAyV2.jpg
-Increased door opening speed (a bit) on B cap http://i.imgur.com/oExmBym.jpg

-1 Little graphical fix
-Can't stand on Fence anymore

E Point:

-Cant stand on top of a door near Windows

Other:

-Fixed 3 Areportals (possible optimization/more fps?)
-Replaced some nodraw textures

I think a lot of the fixes are great. But not all. I have one small gripe.

I think that even in competitive HL, grates should be able to have stickies explode through them. Look at maps like Gully and Swiftwater. Nobody is clamoring for the grates to block damage on those maps. I've even covered matches where a big explosion through a grate caused a med drop. Nobody complains to the map maker - it's just how grates work.

Other than that, I applaud efforts to fix exploits though.

Is the door that used to have flames go through it a problem anymore? Haven't payed attention to this map's changes.

Can't you just replace it with glass, then? Almost all the grate textures in the game are supposed to have splash go through them, and it's real unintuitive that it won't anymore. It you just make it glass, it'll make it obvious that it's not supposed to be. Be careful, though; some of the glass textures are set to have low friction, so you might have to pick around or encase it in blockbullets.

It's just how grates work.

That seems like a really bad idea.

Aside from that, props on the good changes! I hope that being less buggy will make the map's few flaws more obvious, and easy to fix.

Actually snakewater used to have grates on 2nd until people complained to the map maker to change it

If you want to suggest any fixes/additions to a map, feel free to do it, but i still think that Damage through grate thingie is a serious problem sometimes, i've seen players getting killed by the demo who was standing below there and believe me it's very hard to counter him if he's standing there. But anyways, i made some more fixes and removed few things

A point:

If you want to suggest any fixes/additions to a map, feel free to do it, but i still think that Damage through grate thingie is a serious problem sometimes, i've seen players getting killed by the demo who was standing below there and believe me it's very hard to counter him if he's standing there. You should post this on the UGC forums, since they are playing cp_steel again this season, and a fixed cp_steel is better than a regular cp_steel.
