bastino it's a realistic attitude
they're a fucking business and every business does their little shit to get out a bit more money from their costumers, it's economie if i wanna get a bigger business i have to invest and i if i have to invest i have to have money.
ya know you can't pay bills from beeing nice

No, tricking the customers is a horrible business practise and will not actually make you earn more money. The reason ESEA is struggling right now is because of their despicable attitude towards customers, trying to squeeze every cent out of them (even with very shady methods such as bitcoin mining without consent). The customers eventually get tired and stop paying for the services because ESEA clearly isn't delivering. True long-term stability comes from providing good service and making the customer want to pay for the service again.

There is a difference between ESEA tricking its customers, and customers not fully reading what they are paying for online. In this case, the fine print.

Post the entire screen shot not just the small print at the bottom, but that's for an individual. See what it says when you go to pay for a teammate.

Boink payed for my premium once in IM and it doesn't cancel the subscription so he was still paying for premium after we payed for invite league fees. Found out at the end of the season. #ThanksEsea

Why would they change how subscription works if you pay for a teammate?

Indeed, although the reason it is in the fine print in the first place is to get few extra coin from unaware people.

The shady part about it is they don't send you emails each time it renews.

Every other subscription does. Servers, Mumble, Netflix all send you emails.

ESEA doesn't because they don't want you to notice it.

If they refuse to refund unused premium, call your credit card issuer and chargeback, AMEX and Visa will normally fuck the merchant over the keep you happy.

If it was a lot of money I would've fought the payments but it's only about $70 in total. Hopefully some people are aware of this now. Rikachu if you're paying for a friend as a courtesy because they can't afford it somehow why would you sign up to a reoccuring billing cycle for someone else? It's just misinterpreted wrong because of the way it's displayed. How many people do you know that consistently pay for other peoples premiums? It should be different when paying for someone else in my opinion there should be a one time payment option.

For example, lets say we work together and i'm gonna take you out to lunch one day for pizza, I cover the tab to be nice. You go there for pizza every week there after by yourself should I still be paying YOUR tab each time you go? That's just how I look at it.

I'm not certain but I'm pretty sure ESEA will ban you for that

I hate it when people say you can't pay bills from being nice. How do you think a business gets repeat customers? Quality service, which often comes with friednliness.

Pro-tip for life: Contracts should be read in their entirety. If you don't know what something means, ask them. If you disagree with them, be sure to look for ways to cancel in your favor. If you can discuss T&C, always do so.

Last season, open finals. Most of you probably remembered what happened to the servers and all the excruciating crap that went on. When it came down to the last map - I became the target of the dos attacks and well... it's all water under the bridge now.

But anyway, myself and most of my teammates had to pay for another full month of premium only to play the finals. Despite the fact that killing and kalkin both promised that everything they could do to prevent anymore attacks was being done, it wasn't enough and we ended up having to play the finals off-client.

Even though they promised us it wouldn't happen again after the first scheduled matches were cancelled due to ddos attacks - it didn't happen.

And, even though we had to play the finals off-client and esea literally provided nothing of use for those matches (other than the prize money) we didn't get a refund, or a freemium code, or anything like that.

And to top it off, I got charged for another month of premium after all that, because I had pretty much tried my best to forget about the whole thing and let it go. Shouldn't have forgotten that though, the 8 bucks actually sent that account into over draft.

I understand that ESEA has a policy to not refund premium, but I really think they should have let that one slide.

I know most of you don't like me and probably think that's funny, but just thought I would add my 2 cents.

Obviously not, since ESEA continues to have teams signing up. Guess cornering the market does wonders

ulmyxxI just got paypal and remembered this thread, how do i cancel my subscription?

An impressive bump.

Settings (top right gear)
Payments (3rd tab on the top)
Pre-approved payments (under "Manage Upcoming Payments")

You will see a list of all your subscriptions there. Click on the one you want to cancel and hit "cancel". It's kinda buried and took a while for me to figure it out (because I'm stupid). Hope this helps!

Read above.

Log into PayPal, click on the little cogwheel (Profile) button in the top, right-hand corner next to the Log Out button and then go into the Payments tab where you should see a link to preapproved payments. You can just click on the merchant names once you reach the preapproved payments page to manage their status (cancelling, for example).
