Repost of the maplist:
Preseason 1: cp_warmfront
Preseason 2: koth_airfield_b7

Week 1: cp_gullywash_final1
Week 2: cp_granary
Week 3: cp_badlands
Week 4: koth_pro_viaduct_rc4
Week 5: cp_process_final
Week 6: cp_metalworks_rc5
Week 7: koth_coalplant_b7 (subject to community poll)
Week 8: cp_snakewater_final1

I threw up a little bit... how much do I have to pay to make my map be preseason ;)

I am still tiring to figure out if that is the 3 year old version of warmfront, because if so have fun with them stalemates.

We should probably be testing out other maps like sunshine either than warmfront. We dropped warmfront because it had too many problem, no sense in trying to bring it back when it is full of flaws.

I've never played warmfront/coldfront in anything 6v6 but always enjoyed watching it personally. But like I said, I don't know what playing it is actually like.

I agree with this. I think I would put a different map instead of warmfront.

Let's face it, warmfront is not going to be voted into the regular season at any point in time and is going to remain static and unchanged. I'd rather put in a map in preseason that is currently being developed that at least has a chance of being put in the regular season in the future.

All else I'd like to do a vote on it.

blazedunno if this was already discussed, but it would probably be a good idea if cevo copied esea's map schedule or at least had a few of them that would sync up for the first season. I think the main reason most people don't play in 2 or more leagues is because they cant find the time to practice different maps and have 4+ matches a week. (is cevo doing 2 matches a week?)

Intermodel was very well received at my last inhouse PUG. It's miles better than warmfront. Not completely detailed yet but it's still in beta. I'll love you (read: pay you maybe) forever :)

How will readying up work and how will team names/tags work in game?
Do you ready up as a team or is it individual by player similar to how esea does it.
Team names and tags are not really an important issue but I feel like it adds to the match. Normally you can only have 5 or 6 characters in a team name when you ready up, but in something like ESEA the entire team name is used. I feel like that detail adds quite a bit so I'm curious how that would work.
Finally how do team tags work? Is it not required, up to the team, anything like that?

What does it mean by "Monday and Wednesday default deadline days"? Deadline for what? Does this mean there are 2 matches per week?

Could I get a clarification of this passage:
"Teams are now allowed to refuse the use of a spectator application if either team can provide one."
Is this just a verbose way of saying "Teams may refuse spectator applications"?

I am slightly uncomfortable with the Match Coverage, Casting and Live Streaming, Paragraph 1:
"Teams failing to cooperate with CEVO's media partners ... [may be] removed from the event."
I understand that this would only be in extreme circumstances, but I would like to know the extent to which we would need work with the media, and a few examples of CEVO's media partners.

Finally, I would greatly appreciate it if CEVO would revise their rule change policy to notify team leaders in the case of major changes to the rules.

Thank you.

I'd assume this is typical legalese, which they state the strictest possible case. They are probably talking about CEVO TV, or in our case whatever ends up happening with TFTV. It probably just means trying your best to start on time, and not doing the whole 'justin and co.' thing that happened on ESEA TV a few seasons ago.

Thanks for putting this together Lange! Just a quick reminder that teams have until the end of the night on Feb 5th to become "ready" if they would like to be scheduled a preseason #1 match. Otherwise, teams need to be completely registered and paid by the 17th of February to be scheduled a week #1 regular season match.

freakinwhat exactly is the point of preseason?

For this season, it's to test out the server infrastructure.

For future seasons, to test out maps in a competitive environment to see if they should be considered for regular season maps in the future.

I was going to ask this in Mumble but poopy Lange forgot about me. To be fair, I was the only one in there and I got in the right channel at the very end.

Could there be official CEVO offseason tournaments for TF2? I was thinking events like ETF2L's map cups; these would be a good way to test a new map that will potentially be in the next season. There could also be 4v4, highlander, and Ultiduo tournaments.

Yes hooky, this is something that we actually do in many of our other games, but right now we're just trying to get a successful season under our belts. If participation in the regular season is good, we're certainly open to hosting additional events outside of our seasonal event structure.

We're just taking baby steps right now though, because as of this moment, we don't even have 1 completely registered team for Season 4 :p

Fair. I would definitely like to see more current community maps out there for next season. I know a lot of people are fans of cp_sunshine and I know everyone I've had play or look at intermodel think that it's pretty good. It's pretty hard to get freelance testing (I feel like an ass throwing the name out a billion times but it's for a reason darnit) and getting some official community support for community map makers would be fantastic. If that's not possible this season I completely understand, of course. Best of wishes to CEVO!

LazyPandaHow will readying up work and how will team names/tags work in game?
Do you ready up as a team or is it individual by player similar to how esea does it.
Team names and tags are not really an important issue but I feel like it adds to the match. Normally you can only have 5 or 6 characters in a team name when you ready up, but in something like ESEA the entire team name is used. I feel like that detail adds quite a bit so I'm curious how that would work.
Finally how do team tags work? Is it not required, up to the team, anything like that?

Lange I think you skipped my question, I think you were going in order through the thread and you read one before and then skipped to one after, so just curious if you have an answer.

(re-quoting from trog)

i was a bit disappointed that this post wasn't touched on. it is sort of a loaded question, but i was hoping to find the information of: will CEVO try to mirror ESEA's map list for this first real season?

reason being that, if there were hypothetically 1 match a week for CEVO this season, teams who are weary about moving away from what is known/comfortable (ESEA) would probably have a bit more of an interest (and time) to participate in both leagues.

Hi jodd,

Has ESEA released their map rotation yet? We had originally planned to keep our map rotation as close to ESEA's as possible to make it easy on teams playing in both leagues, but we couldn't find anything listed for the upcoming season. We also didn't feel like it would be fair to our players for us not to release a map rotation at the time we started to collect payments for the event. Our season is scheduled to start before theirs, so we don't have the luxury of waiting until their event begins.

I'd love to hear opinions on this though, would you prefer that we scrapped our map rotation and copied ESEA's when it's announced, or would you prefer that we keep the rotation that we've already announced at the time of registration?

Killing usually posts information on this forum. The information will most likely be posted between now and the end of preseason. The map list for ESEA will be the similar to last season's, with one map being voted out and one being put it. Oh, and not in the same order as the previous season.

BUT on the topic with being on par with ESEA's maplist, it would make scrimming during the regular season MUCH easier so players in both leagues and those who aren't in one league or the other can find scrims w/o a huge divide between everyone.

If you're the captain --> click on MY CEVO --> Manage Events --> Roster --> Dropdown Menu (beside each player) --> Select "Kick".

mirroring ESEA's maplist would definitely be ideal imo, but they might not even announce their rotation until after the CEVO season is supposed to start, and the seasons aren't starting at the same time so the weeks won't even line up. but if the map rotation is different, teams that are playing in both leagues will likely treat CEVO as an afterthought like it has been in the past. also, having the community split into wanting to scrim two different maps at the same time is not ideal

Some minor questions regarding owning/running a team with CEVO.

How many people\players can I have on an official CEVO roster? Do back ups have to pay the 15 dollar entry fee? Do we need to have 6 players paid for by the first and second preseason map?

You can have up to 12 players on an official CEVO roster at any given time. Backups can join the roster without paying, but do have to pay to play in an official match.
