Struggling with FPS

I am currently stuck playing on a ~1 year old Macbook Pro and despite playing on the lowest possible resolution and playing with maxframes installed I only get around 30-40 FPS at mid fights and it is very hard to play on. Is there anything else I could do for more frames? I feel like a relatively new computer shouldn't run the game THIS poorly, even if it is a Mac.

try bootcamping it and installing windows, you'll get much better performance.

If that doesn't do the trick, try the no hat modification, you can get an extra 10-20 fps by removing all of those cosmetics and particle effects. If you're up for it, it's worth doing.

I don't know how Macs really work but if you could install Archlinux it would probably really help you since its free from all the shit you got with windows/mac and only got the stuff you need.
As far as i know tf2 should be available on linux now and it helped me when i wanted to play games with my 3 year old laptop that kept overheating.

hey archlinux is great but don't you think it is a bit too much effort if you just want to play video games?

Chris max frames, loose steam overlay, that hatless mod helps too. Also download smfan control, you will need to crank those fans up, but it will eventually shorten the life span on it.

Even though its only been a year, it might also help blow the dust out of the fans. You would be surprised at how much builds up over time. I would also avoid playing with an external monitor. Lastly, shut it down at night, or whenever possible. It helps to let it cool down, it won't overheat so quickly.

I am struggling tremendously with Boot Camp sadly but I will definitely try all the other solutions, thanks! If someone is really knowledgable about Boot Camp and could help me out that would be super awesome because it is very frustrating and confusing
