Stickies not showing in demos

Sup

So yeah, having an issue where stickybombs aren't showing when I playback a demo (for recording). The only thing that appears is the particle effect that goes with the sticky (that is the red/blue glow around the stickybomb and the explosion when the sticky is detonated), but not the stickybomb itself.

Example - http://puu.sh/5ajDg.jpg

Those 2 red 'dots' are stickybombs. I have tried playing different demos, but all have the same problem. It seems the problem has occurred after the halloween update; I tested demos which were working perfectly fine before, but they are having the same issue now. Is it something my end or is it said update which has just fucked with the demos?

All other weapons show up perfectly fine; pipes, rockets, pellets from shot/scattergun etc.

Need to try and get this fixed asap.

the update has been known to make stickies invisible
you can either get a rollback (a version of tf2 before the halloween update) and play the demo in that or just wait for valve to hopefully fix it

Didn't help :(

And upon closer inspection, it seems I was wrong. The same problem IS occurring with rockets too. The rocket itself is not present, only the particle effects around it (it wasn't obvious to me since the yellow flames/trail of the rocket hide the actual rocket 90% of the time).

Ah shiet.
How does one obtain such a 'rollback'?

Having this same problem and just today I recorded a bunch of demos overnight and noticed no stickies / pipes :(

Edit: reported the situation through http://www.valvesoftware.com/email.php?recipient=TF+Team , maybe if more people would do the same it can be solved a bit faster?

Really hoping they release a patch for this soon. Viewmodels are completely messed up in some clips I have had saved for a frag video.

Anybody know if its possible to rollback tf2 to a pre-halloween patch?

It's been like this for awhile for older STVs, though for me POV demos are fine. Dunno about newer STVs because those don't seem to play at all, anything after Halloween just throws errors and doesn't start.

Another issue is that the glow trail only shows in red.

I used the ingame bug reporter the other night to report all three problems -- the screwy grenade launcher and the invisible projectiles with only red glow in the older STVs, and inability to play some newer STVs.

And yeah, the grenade launcher viewmodel is exactly the same as an older bug...

Just been informed by Sal that Valve have people working on the STV issues and they expect to have a patch ready "soon" (valve time).

We’ve been working on fixing up some of the known issues (like the sticky bombs and rockets not drawing) and we should have something ready to release soon. I’ll forward your email to make sure the other issues are being looked into, too.

Interpret 'soon' as you wish, I'm hopeful that it's a real soon, not a Valve one.

This is literally the best tf2 news I have seen in months. I couldnt care less about new hats, all I want is a functional demo system.

Where do you people got this info and how did you contact him?

I have emailed the tf2 team using their online form over 5-6 times in the past few months reporting bugs and requesting new features and I never got a response back.

KanecoI have emailed the tf2 team using their online form over 5-6 times in the past few months reporting bugs and requesting new features and I never got a response back.

CUBE emailed valve multiple times about this bug and received no response. I've also only ever gotten a response from Valve on two occasions. I think you just have to hope to catch someone on a good day.

Hmm, I see... I know valve structure is very different from normal but I really wish we could have a more present intermediate between the devs and the community :(

It was sal who got that response back from Eric then?

That was a response to me. I was checking for updates on the bugs, and if they weren't working on it, any pointers for 'fixing' via a plugin.

As for contacting individuals in valve, once you know who you want to contact it'll either be a Google away, or a search through one of their mailing lists

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but there's now an opt-in beta with a temp-fix for the viewmodels

http://i.imgur.com/Nqh8TE9.png

They're working on making it a permanent fix in the main game, but for now you can opt-in to this, download a small update, and play the demos.
It fixed sticky launcher on the demo I had, but I'm having trouble getting more to test with due to my connection, so if others would like to try it out go ahead.

Online play and demos from after halloween won't work until you opt-out again.

I'm really glad they are working on this. All I would like to see now is an improved demo system like cs go has where you can skip between ticks with the round and death switch

Hello. Even i'm having problems regarding the making of the videos, as Valve after this update of halloween they stopped supporting the pre-halloween beta of 2013. I've tried sending emails, but i didn't get any answers, and i'm really desperate of this because all of my videos i'm working on are half done and i can't continue them
