Possible demo system update?

So for the past few weeks CS:GO has received some pretty nice demo system updates, and since it's basically the same engine and the same system should we be expecting the same update to come over to tf2 or at the very least to plead with the devs to port it from CS GO to tf2?

Here are the updates launchnotes

[DEMOS]
- Work in progress improvements to demoui & demoplayer:
-- Menus, Overview Map, Graphs, etc. now work when the demo is paused.
-- Improved seeking with less particle effect, sound, and HUD spew.
-- Demo Timescale slider now goes up to 10x.
-- Added buttons to directly set demo timescale to 1/4x, 1/2x, 1x, 2x, 4x speeds.
-- Fixed Stats Graph round columns not resetting correctly when rewinding a demo.
-- Removed demoui2.
- Fixed color of weapon names not matching the actual rarity of the weapon.
[DEMOS]
- Work in progress improvements to demoui & demoplayer:
-- Seeking backward no longer reloads the map.
-- Can now seek to next/previous round start or player death.

Not sure about this but I think "GOTV" is a completely different project than sourceTV. However I do agree it would be really cool to have a bunch of the features that it offers. The hiding everything but kill notices is really nice.

While they're at it adding an option to outline stock crosshairs would be super awesome.

They've been updating/improving GOTV every update lately, but that's because Valve cares about CS:GO much more than TF2 and it's competitive scene is getting stronger and all (and things like cs:go key money providing a 250k prize pool for Winter Dreamhack). I doubt TF2 will see much/any of these improvements.

Interesting!

I also noticed in CSGO there is a really sweet advanced spectator - glow outlines by default that looks really good and much better than the community created TF2 one... Hoping they can get that in sometime as well.

Doubt it. Counter Strike and Dota are several orders of magnitude stronger competitive scenes than TF2. Valve will likely focus their interests on that.

But isn't it basically the same exact system and engine? It should be pretty easy to port to tf2?

Maybe we should send something to the devs to let them know this would be something of interest for us

I'm quite sure they already said it would all be possible just requires them to bother.

Protip: They won't bother.

If we had the dota replay system where you can just freely move the time slider to any point I'd love that.

Recently I have been playing CS:GO more and more and just the sheer amount of things that are just better for it then TF2 is insane. Built in pug system, better method of supporting community maps, keys to fund competitive events, overall better balance, extremely better spectating-TF2 looks like this

by default and cs:go looks like this

Simple things even like the demo system could be so easily added.

I know it's a bit insane but implementing a bunch of these ideas to AdvSPEC plugin could be crazy awesome. Maybe not the exact k/a/d thing cause I think it's a bit obnoxious and really not needed in tf2 imo.

i'm not sure if blue has had the time to work on anything recently but i know sticky outlines have been suggested in the past as well as a sort of "minimap" overview of a map (maybe even something casters can draw on but this would probably be impossible). the csgo and dota casts' production values are insane now and we can take some stuff away from it.

but honestly advspec is really amazing the way it is right now and blue's done a really really great job doing the stuff that valve unfortunately doesn't have the motivation to do.

Maybe when they've finished playing with CS:GO and have the demo functions working exactly the way they want they'll port the changes over.

Then again, the engines may be too different for that to work.
