~$500 new PC suggestions

My motherboard died and I want to start building a new gaming rig for ~$500-600. I have keyboard, mouse, monitor and 4gbx2 of DDR3 RAM, so I think I just need a mobo, CPU, gfx card and PSU. Any general suggestions?

My old roommate told me what to buy when I built my now dead PC, so I have no idea really what I'm looking for, but I'm browsing newegg to try to get a feel for the market.

Also, should I try to wait for black Friday? If it helps, here are my old parts.

EDIT:Links should now correctly reflect what I have.

For gfx you put a psu ^^

what is your old psu? (if thats it you could probably save that for your new build)

Whoops, that was the old PSU. I updated so the gfx card reflects what I have.

Thanks for the build, it looks great. I took out stuff that I already have and switched in the RAM that I bought last week; the case looks good but I'm 50/50 about keeping my old one. As far as running stuff like TF2, Skyrim etc. the i3 should be all I need? I don't overclock, video edit, stream or anything like that.

Yes, the i3 will run pretty much anything you throw at it. (most games still don't utilize more than 4 cores.)

It won't stream well though.

Thanks john, do you think it would be worth while to wait til black friday comes around to buy the parts? (I know people said they got that processor for 79$ a couple months ago) or would it really not matter for buying online anyway?

I'd consider waiting for Cyber Monday. You may be able to save up a bit more cash and get a good deal on a 2500k or something.
