honestly this is just life. the reason i try in school and stuff is just for a sense of self-fulfillment, i have a few offers w/ some companies but i have no idea what i want to do/where i want to go. i graduate in december x_x

also, try not to work too hard! after you're done w/ college (assuming you don't want to do higher education) you'll most likely work full time for the rest of your life. this was my last summer, i don't remember the last summer when i didn't work/have school.

focus on education and keep pushing on transferring to a uc. i just transferred to uc davis and it's so much more refreshing than the jc/cc life. like you, i'm kind of wandering aimlessly and defaulted on my major but i still believe that education is the ultimate equalizer. allow yourself to explore different things and hopefully you'll find something you enjoy.

If you can move down to Santa Barbara I highly recommend doing so and living in the little college town of Isla Vista. A lot of city college kids (SBCC) live there and many of which don't own cars. If you're 19 it is the ultimate place to be to find yourself.

I went to high school in Napa and the year after I graduated I was living at home, taking a few JC classes, and basically doing nothing with my life. One day I just said fuck it and moved down south to a place I had never been before. Best decision I ever made.

It may be very hard to do, but my best advice would be to reinvent yourself. When I left home I changed everything. I went from 19, playing CAL-i video games in my mother's home and working a dead end job, to complete party animal and junior college super star. I mean that in the most confident way possible.

hey, reddit is interesting. i thought it was all hype until i actually started.

during this time it is very easy to let yourself go and get fat. i suggest on hitting the gym on the regular / regularly exercise. join clubs that are of interest to you and get out of your comfort zone.

ya pretty much, this is the only time you'll get away with running around going balls out. You should be going to at least 1 or 2 parties a week and hanging out with friends or going out almost every night for the next few years.

I don't think there's really one simple answer to this, this can be attributed to many things. I don't think you should be down on yourself though, it's pretty normal happened to me at 20 too. I was unmotivated at one point too and it took my mom to kick me out of it and I went and got an internship for something I had no experience in (Social Media marketing). I understand the TF2 community is uber cool (heh, tf2 joke) but sometimes family is best for helping you, also friends.

The first thing I'd reassess is do you really want to be in Computer Science? I thought I wanted to be an accountant when I went to college, I loved numbers and then I got to college and I was very lukewarm on the idea. I would look at all of the majors and look back at CS and see if that's really something you want to do.

Two I'd look at what your hobbies are, try doing something with TF2. Maybe try doing some code for a TF2 project. I'm assuming you've done some javascript or something, so try building something. See if you like doing it, if not try finding something else you like. Alot of my experience has come from doing stupid experiments like this, I essentially learned HTML at 16 because of things like that.

Stay in touch with your friends via text or facebook or something like that, friends are your biggest supporters. I've done many things related to web design with my friends from the most ridiculous idea, to pretty organized. Friends are the best thing in the world and will help you alot, even if you can't see them all the time, talk to them online. I won't bring up making new friends because I don't really know the dynamic of commuting or being a community college student.

Yea, what you are going through is normal. I was in a similar situation back then and i rolled with it. I ended up 10 years just going with the flow after blowing savings on a house when i was 18 instead of going off to college. It took me 10 years to figure out i did not want to be a chef after working for so long and advancing to management, sous, and executive. I'm 28 now and i finally found something i truly enjoy / love doing.

Make some small goals and keep a big one in the background. It is just something that takes time. If you have to deal with a job you semi like, make the money put it away, and it will be HUGE later. Having a vehicle is nice but it can also be expensive. I haven't had a new car in my life, but i have paid for flat out multiple used that worked just as well. It's nice not having to worry about a payment or full coverage. If you are in a bigger area / city where you can get by without it, then by all means just put that much more money towards something like going on a cruise, traveling somewhere, or something of the sort.

I pretty much had my life controlled until i was 18/19, all my checks and job money went straight to my parents hands then the bank. Then when it was college time, they gave me the choice of house and work to do what i wanted or go off to a university.

Just keep an open mind and if something isn't going right or "it" just isn't there when you are doing it and you will know. Then it's time to try something else.

When you get that car, take a month off from work, get an oil change, save some money for food and gas, make like 15 CD's of your favorite shit, and just pick a direction and drive. Seriously, freedom is happiness without cause.

Be a supertramp, it's always something to keep in mind. Finish off college, find a good paying job, and do shit YOU want to do. It's on my bucketlist

Nobody else to talk to, I guess. Also forum of people with possibly similar interests, problems, etc.

I would think so because to maintain the recreational time for video games, competitive at that, a person would have to be at least living decently (most of the time?) and as such they presumably have life experience of some sort to pull from when somebody is seeking advice.

Additionally, I find many people who play video games a lot to be somewhat lacking in the social skills or close-proximity friends departments. So asking on a forum is just easier.
