Can anyone help me out with rates for each specific class and any other console commands I should be using to play competitive TF2?

I used to play comp a long time ago, but I haven't really touched games in like ~2 years so the only command I remember is fov_desired_90 :O

r_drawviewmodel 0 to disable viewmodels when you're playing. It helps to see more of your screen.

That's more a preference setting, which by the way, I like viewmodels for reference to aiming. I was talking more about necessary commands that can affect gameplay.

ares
cl_interp 0.033
for hitscan,
cl_interp 0.0152
for projectile.

Good shit. What are your updaterates, cmdrates, and rate at?

Edit: Looks like you edited your post to cover my question. Thanks for the help.

There should be one of these for every game. Just a quick config rundown of what you need, and what you don't need. Atleast for me, when I try to find some info about other games, i.e. DotA 2, CS:GO, I can never find a quick guide to what I should have in my config.

As for TF2, the main things you need are to define your rates (which includes interp), and some preferential things like do you want viewmodels on, or how your HUD looks.

cl_cmdrate 66
cl_updaterate 66
rate 50000 - not sure if correct but itsxwhat i use
cl_interp 0.0152
Viewmodel_fov - experiment with this, i find that about 140 is good for my soldier but i use 90 for demo

If you are looking to bind a key so that you can use 2 different settings this will work usually:
Bind (key) " toggle r_drawviewmodels 1 0"
Bind (key) "toggle viewmodel_fov 140 90"
Almost all commands can be setup that way as well as using the "incrementvar" command that allows you to use more than 2 variables...

I cant think of anything else useful at the moment but that should cover the basics...

cl_ragdoll_fade_time 0
cl_ragdoll_forcefade 1
cl_ragdoll_physics_enable 0
g_ragdoll_fadespeed 0
g_ragdoll_lvfadespeed 0
ragdoll_sleepaftertime 0
cl_phys_props_enable 0
cl_phys_props_max 0
props_break_max_pieces 0
r_propsmaxdist 1
violence_agibs 0
violence_hgibs 0

This disables all gibs, also PUT THIS INTO YOUR AUTOEXEC FILE. How to make an autoexec? Go into your tf folder, click on the cfg folder, and then copy one of the files that is a CFG type file. Paste it back into your cfg folder, and then rename it to autoexe.cfg. Be sure to leave the original file (the one that you copied) or you're gonna be screwed. Then open up the file using notepad (I would download notepad ++, it saves tons of time trying to change settings in your hud) and delete all the text in it. Then copy and paste any commands you want into the cfg file, and then save using notepad. Open/reopen your game, and you'll have whatever autoexec files you wanted put into your game. Enjoy!

I also use net_graph 1 so i can see my ping and fps
