Is it worth reading?

I've seen some pages and it looks cool, and I need something to do while overseas.

it is a fucking enormous webcomic and only you can decide if you want to read 6400 pages. the general consensus is to read acts 1-3 because act 3 is when the story really picks up

homestuck ruined my life but also gave me my heterosexual life partner

watch attack on titan instead

I want to stay away from Homestuck, but then they pull this shit on me. Shit, I should've never started reading it... Drained away months off of my lifespan.

For those of you that don't get it, putting body fluids in a bucket is the way the other species makes offspring. It's automatically funny because sex joke.

except worse cos not all bronies are complete assholes if you don't happen to like the same things they do

the homestuck community is a complete cesspool, if you do decide to read it I'd suggest staying away from the forums they have

It's a webcomic. I enjoy reading it, along with SMBC, Schlock, Dr. McNinja, and KC Greene. The story's interesting although it gets pretty bogged down with characterization sometimes.

Some of the fandom is weird and nerdy. Welcome to the internet.

Other way around. Bronies are the new Homestuck fans. Instead of whatever ships they have in their names and avatars for homestuck you'd see a few years ago, it's whatever nonsense ponyfuckers come up with.

I wonder if we're gonna see a resurgence in recolored templates of Sonic and people named "<first name on birth certificate here> the Hedgehog" next. It's just how these things work.

i'm not much into homestuck anymore but really? every fandom has its vocal minority that is utter garbage (see: the spitting in the bucket video), but a lot of the homestuck fandom is an absolute joy. it's unfair to call an entire fandom a cesspool because you've only heard or seen stories about a certain sect of the fandom being less than appealing.

Go to any anime convention anywhere ever and you'll see enough bad Homestuck cosplay to last you for the rest of your life. It's funny, I never hear about it ever until the odd time I go to one of those and then suddenly it's apparently the hottest shit since pokemon cards.

I actually read a bunch of it a couple years ago, the first 3 acts and I think a bit of the fourth. I think I enjoyed it at the time but I lost interest and I really don't think I could be assed to read all of that shit considering how much of it there is. I'd need to be given a damn good reason to read 6000+ pages of something; if the fandom is any indication of its quality, which often tends to be the case, I probably don't have any reason to do so either.

So to answer your question OP: if you read the first act or so and it completely blows your mind with how outstandingly amazing it is, go for it I guess. If it doesn't, there are many better things to read in the spare time you would otherwise be wasting on Homestuck, like reading fucking Proust or something.

It's okay. There's some cool stuff about it I really enjoyed like the animated/playable updates. But I quit reading a year ago because I just couldn't be bothered to anymore. Nothing ever got resolved in the plot and too many characters kept getting introduced, death had been cheapened too much, and I couldn't keep track of plot things that had happened 1000 pages ago and were only coming back now. Maybe I'll go back and read it through once it's finished and I know how much time I'll actually have to invest, maybe not. It's worth giving it a try if you have some time to kill.
