RamownWhy has it taken a year rofl?

I think people drastically underestimate the difficulty in producing a feature-length documentary with a small volunteer team.

From what I've seen of his other work, Luke has pretty high standards for himself. He's not going to just slap something together for the sake of getting it out the door. He wants to make something that he (and the community as a whole) can be proud of a few years down the road.

Yeah I know it takes a while, and you're right about Lukes production quality and standards. But a year is really long.

projects like this can take months to a year, i don't think people understand the actual work that has to be done. this isn't the same as tossing together a frag video with some clips and music. post production/video editing work can be pretty tedious depending on what you're working with, and it's not like he's getting paid to do this. patience is a virtue fellow gamers

it's a free service, i don't know why anybody is complaining. it's probably taking longer because it's free and paid work takes priority.

You actually think money would have made the movie come faster?, just by the fact that he does it for his love to TF2 and the community, makes it amazing already and doesn't need to be rushed.

If he was doing it for the money, I wouldn't have appreciated the guy nor would I appreciate the final product.

@102 you do realize that money is actually useful for paying things like rent and food?
Though I suppose I shouldn't take any one who quotes themselves seriously.

That's not the point here, the dude probably has a job, and if he does it without getting paid then he obviously likes it, he does it since it's fun to him, and we shouldn't spoile his fun by rushing him and stressing him to finish it faster and faster.

And dude, that's a fucking great quote! you wish you could quote yourself! (gee that sounded like "clone yourself" for a second).

Don't quote me on this but I believe Luke is a video editor for a living.

Now I'm a programmer for a living and after spending all day programming (well pretending to program whilst watching various shitlords play TF2 on stream) I don't come home and relish the idea of more programming, even when it is for something I love.

Also the timing is actually quite nice for a pre i49 hype type situation, which is arguably an even bigger event with Aus, US and EU all attending.

50 fps is double pal. YouTube will be 25. Shot on a 50fps camera yes.

I am :) Actually since like one month after i46, so that was kinda a big change for me personally breaking away from school to work (from home), took some getting used to which probably ended up slowing this down too...

Uh, yes? Generally how it works is an individual must work to support themselves (food, rent, insurance and so forth) before they should think about their hobbies. I love to draw, I love getting paid to draw. What I don't love is having to draw mostly uninteresting (to me) ideas from customers, but I always do that work before recreational drawing. If I didn't, I'd have less money to put into necessities, much less for any recreational time.

That being said, I'm not talking down to people for not paying the guy, if that's what you somehow concluded. What I am saying is that I think it's rude to demand something from somebody when you put nothing into it yourself. The guy is volunteering his own time and skill for the project for no reward other than personal satisfaction. I don't think it's asking too much for people to be patient.

As an artist, I have to disagree with you on that quote. I do not make art for anybody else. I use my skills for myself, because producing something that I am actually happy with is the greatest satisfaction, rather than for people who mostly don't understand what it is that I do.

Wow, tf2 has probably played a big part in your professional path choice, or were you already decided to go with filmmaking before starting to work on tf2 movies? Whatever it is, I am really happy for you man, glad its working out and that it's something you like to do.

The cycle begins... Next step is those youtube videos full of anotations leading to a completely legit russian site and finally it ends up on pirate bay 1 week before the release on [CAM] format.

You should release it by playing it on i49 main stage.
I remember seeing the Cube's prem (for the first time) on i46 big ass screen, and boy was it awesome.

considering good frag videos take months to come out as it is, i don't see why people should spend any less, let alone the same amount of time on a more "precious", for the lack of a better term, piece of work.

i'm looking forward to it and can wait as long as needed so long as the video's quality is great.
