...And he'll direct you to someone else!

But seriously I'll try to answer competitive-related questions with as much knowledge as I can for someone who only WATCHES competitive games!

Which game(s) did you play before TF2 and what made you click that you should switch to this awesome game?

If you had to choose only one to cast, which one would it be. 6v6 or highlander?

#2 Either yours or the Team Bad v2 double minisentry defense on Gravelpit B.

#3 I didn't do a lot of FPS. Played a couple years of EVE and did some small-time PVP, but realized after a while that I was getting bored of logging in. Logging into TF2 is never boring, and I didn't have to commit to spending hours on the server if I didn't want to. Easy choice - more fun per minute in TF2 with no strings attached.

#4 It's possible to have too much of a good thing.

#5 6v6. Team strategy is more predictable and easy to convey as a shoutcaster. The action is more focused as well.

I think you've mentioned this at one point, but how did you get into shoutcasting?

I liked watching shoutcasts of Starcraft (and still do). I've also always liked presenting and attention. The mjor obstacles for me shoutcasting were a) thinking I had a shitty voice (kind of a boring story) and b) not really knowing Starcraft well enough to be a good caster. So when I realized TF2 had a competitive scene and someone mentioned that my voice actually isn't terrible, I decided to try it out.

I started by asking friends for their STV demos and advice on how to cast effectively. Watched eXtv and formulated my personal style of casting and content by thinking about what sort of niche I could fill. TF2 didn't really have a "Husky" at the time - someone putting out daily content for the competitive scene. So that's the niche I decided to fill.

For the latest All Star match or whatevere its called (in aid of childs play), casted by you and Cbear, why did Cbear pretend to know nothing about casting or TF2, cause i found that really annoying.

I'm not Cbear so I can't really answer that question, or even agree with its implied premises.

#10 I believe he wasn't pretending, he was just asking questions that the audience may be wondering as well. Since it was on the Yogscast channel there would be a lot of people who don't know play TF2 that much (especially competitive)

sal: Have you seen the rumors between you and Kip in the comment sections on both your/her videos? I enjoy playing along with them and adding to the drama.

What do unlocks add to NA TF2 that EU TF2 doesn't have?

Limited expansion or refinement of class roles. The only different unlocks commonly used are gunboats, equalizer, pain train and the boston basher.

Gunboats make the roamer more effective at covering the flank and making big plays. Equalizer (now escape plan) gives both soldiers more versatility and survivability. Both of those weapons allow the soldiers greater aggression than the stock loadout.

Pain train for the demoman just makes it easier to have a quick capture when your opponents wipe out.

Boston basher gives the scout something to do when things are boring in between pushes other than poking at flanks.

Other unlocks are very situational. Dead ringer and Scottish Resistance are really only used pushing out of Gravelpit to get rid of sticky traps. Cloak and Dagger upgrades the spy's ability to get med picks before pushing last.

How do you feel about casting duo's. I noticed that more and more casts seem to have 3 people, and im not sure how I feel about that. How do you prefer casting?

Personally, I think just 2 people fits more, less talking over someone else on accident.

More than 2 casters means the casters have to be clear about when they're transitioning and to whom. It works well if you say "Isn't that right, eXtine?" to kick it over to him.

What has been the most annoying thing to happen to you while you were trying to cast a game? (phone calls, pc crashes, cat attacking you, etc.)

Why is your friends list full? I have a wonderful highlander match for you to cast, full of invite players, double airshots, uber pops and uber drops, and it's a bit of a nail-biter.

Do you think TF2 is the most fun game to watch? I'm asking because I'm a huge fan of many games at competitive level, and despite having so much fun playing TF2, I can't find the matches so enjoyable, rarely are the cases that i'm able to finish watching until the last minute. Maybe that's bottlenecking the growth of tf2 competitive scene and i want to hear your thoughts about that

#23 Have you casted anything before? Make a video or something and let me see.

#24 Brief and to the point. Though the attempt at humor has fallen flat in the eyes of your colleagues, it is at least a welcome interlude from some of the more serious posts. However, you didn't phrase it in the form of a question in an "AMA" thread, so 1/10 poster.

#25 Toss-up between weedwackers outside or when one of my ferrets got out of his playpen mid-cast. (disclaimer: I don't have the ferrets anymore)

#26 I've tried to make it as clear as possible in as many places as possible, but I don't take demos from friends list. All STV demos I consider for casting are emailed to Salamancer.TV@Gmail.com. As far as why my list is constantly full, take a wild guess.

#27 TF2 matches take too long. The average starcraft shoutcast can be 10-15 minutes; TF2 casts are almost always above 30. Short of drastically changing the game, I don't see how that's fixable. The long games are usually fun for the players, but from a viewer perspective there's other things you might have to go do, or other vids to watch / games to play. The only feasible solution is to make alternative gamemodes more viable and shorter - Ultiduo or 3v3 KOTH, for instance. Either that or completely change the ESEA (and even ETF2L) rules to promote short games.

#28 Ruwin, Mackey, TLR, Mesr. I say that more based on "best inviter to watch" than "best at the game" since that's what I'm qualified to talk about.

As far as what non-TF2 game I like to watch, I only watch Starcraft right now, and not very often. It's got a good spectator scene.
