I have the problem that my DM on scrims and matches is on a much lower level than during DM/MGE practice.

I believe this is caused by two things.
One, the down time before scrims/matches start makes my warm ups wear off and thus I perform worse. It is a lot more apparent during matches because we have to wait for players to get on the server, and there is like 15 minutes before our last scrim ends and there is not enough time to get another one so we don't play.
Two, I guess when I am only DMing I don't think about the other aspects of the game like numbers, ubers , holding etc. and thus I can focus more on pure DM.

What can I do to address this?

I felt like that too and it's pretty common for you to feel that way. what you have to realize is that in scrims you get fewer opportunities in shots that you have to make, whereas DM is constant aiming whatnot so that's why you think that way. you also focus on other aspects in scrims, not just pure DM

I think it's just a matter of getting more experience by playing more scrims. Before I really started playing this game a lot with AG, I noticed that I could make good calls when I played medic, but I was relatively clueless when I played other classes. When I didn't need to focus on aim, I could spend brain cycles on analyzing the game and read the situation properly. Now, after having played a lot more, reading the game is just so second-nature to me that I can make good calls without taking focus away from my aim. In your case, rather than sacrificing your calls to aim, you sacrifice your aim to make calls.

Just throwing some arbitrary numbers out there as an example: right now, it may take you 1s to analyze a given situation, during which time your aim is worse because you're confused/not sure what's going on. After you experience that situation again and again, you recognize the situation in 0.1s and can move your focus back to DM immediately. Add in other stuff about being in the wrong position while you're thinking so you don't set yourself up for easy shots, blah blah. tl;dr -- more scrim experience makes this easier.

RIP my aim, it died to my calls

I will practice more of course. I will also try to mge on the down time, see if that helps. It is hard to DM between scrims because the servers are always full.

You probably have the same problem that i do. During scrims and matches sometimes i tense up and it makes me miss a lot of shots, where as in dm im relaxed so my aim is way better.

DM in a real game is a lot more than just shooting at people.

#9 I thought it was that at first, but I've managed to chill and be all happy and shit during some scrims and matches and I still can't get on the zone.

Exactly. Sometimes I feel like my DM in game is way better because I can play off my teammates and use my position to create advantages. Other times I feel like my aim is complete shit in game compared to like 10 minutes into a SOAP session.

Might also be the refresh of health and ammo on kill which takes away the importance of every shot being accurate

DM only transitions to actual game scenarios with muscle memory. There are no nerves in DM/MGE. I can hang with most people in MGE, but the second I get into a match, a better player will completely dominate me solely because I get a bit nervous when I have the opportunity to make a big play.

Also, you've been a part of eGO for less than half a season. You probably just need more time scrimming with your team.

Yeah. I think you are right. Yesterday was a weird scrim day, but for the first time I felt like i was actually doing my job as a scout on eGO. I've been DMing every day and trying to stay calm during scrims so I think it might have been more of a mental block. Anyway, thanks for the advice guys

- positioning is something you can make a conscious decision about unlike aim and can have just as much of an impact
- try not to kill people who are being pocketed/fully buffed if you don't have help or are not also buffed ( big difference from DM/MGE)
- if you have the option to pick your fight at any time, pick the guy who just got called hurt
- call who you're shooting/the damage you did if you know people can follow up
- when you're practicing your DM pick something you think you need to work on and focus on that

Because unlike DM mod, when you're playing an actual team you need awareness.

Hitting your shots is good, but it won't mean much if you're constantly making bad decisions.

You get scared because you don't know if the person you're fighting is bad. In MGE, the rating system tells you whether he should be better or worse than you. Just go into each fight thinking the other person is shit and that he's terrified that you will kill him before he can kill you. If both people think this way it = clash which is great for video games. If you think you're going to lose or thinking way too much about your situation when it comes time to aim, you'll fail every time.
